Pirates doing Diplomacy?

So guys, how are we going to play the diplomatic game?
Honest?
Backstabbing?
Plain deceitfull?
How do Pirates diplomacy, if they ever do it...

I'd like to hear how you see us at work in this department.

I'll probably open a seperate gmail account for this game so everyone knows where to send their birds and every Pirate can read what's in....

With the possible exception of Darrell's Tropical Trolls, we're the least skilled team in this this game - or rather, we don't have any of the really big name players on our team - Novice, SevenSpirits, Mackoti, Lord Parkin, Krill, etc. We can potentially use this to our advantage, as the other teams will not see view us as big a threat to win. To that end, I feel like our diplomacy should exploit these fears between the other teams, foment distrust while painting us as a "a poor team that just wants to have fun in this game and spam some pirate emoticons :aar:"

With that in mind, I feel like we should be really honest in all our diplomacy - talk straight. We also want to work really hard to prevent the formation of a game long bromance a la Rego & Pin in PBEM26 or GES and Seven in PBEM19 among two of the really skilled teams; while at the same time trying to find ourselves a lover among the other teams.

So, three suggestions that come to mind:

1. Never get in a chat with Kyan
2. Keep the pirate roleplay in our diplomacy to a minimum so as not to annoy the other teams.
3. Don't get in a chat with Kyan wink

Honest! Just how honest, though? 'I don't have the strength to help you' honest or 'I don't want to help you because I want to see you dead' honest?

Interesting thought, Davy.
But to forment distrust between others we might need to be a bit dishonest... I'm sure we can "misunderstand" some things that are being said...

I don't mind helping out with diplomacy here and there. I'm not sure you'd want me behind the wheel anyhow. smile

Uh, won't fomenting distrust between others make others distrust us instead?

We could always forget diplomacy and rely on our guns.

I think a good tactic would be to try and sign some NAPs with our foes until we have enough scurvey dogs on deck to form a boarding party...then let the pillaging and plundering begin...

Could someone please compile and post up a list of all the members on each team for future reference?

I'll create us an e-mail for this game.
Bit busy these days, but I should have more time in the next few days.

We made contact with Team Anger Management this turn. I've messaged Gaspar that we don't have a diplomatic email up yet and until we do, they can make contact with us at me or Nakor's gmail.

Could I get someone to compose a greeting email? Nothing special, just standard pleasantries.

What we need to decide is whether or not we want to ask for an exchange of map information. I daresay our info is much more valuable. That being said, it may not hurt to let a little of it slip and try to court a friend.
