I have a character in Act IV Nightmare and another in Act II Nightmare, plus a couple more at various points in Normal. Only one legendary drop so far, and it was complete garbage -- significantly worse than the blue I had in that slot. "Legendary" indeed. rolleye

I've had two legendaries drop (one for each character that I've been playing so far), and both were at least temporarily useful for the character that found them.

I have 2 toons in inferno, 2 in hell and 1 in nm.
Total legendaries - 3 - used Hammer Bloomer (dropped for the right toon at the right time)
Total sets - 0

Interesting stats, KoP, especially on sets. The odds of getting a set item to drop are so small as to be non-existent. The odds of actually gathering a complete set.... lol

You're not seeing sets because, except for the crafted ones, all sets are ilvl 61, so prior to 1.03 they would only drop in Inferno (and only rarely in Act 1 at that.) It's possible to find them in Hell Act 3 now, but over 85% of your drops are going to be the wrong ilvl.

If you find a recipe for a lower-level set it will teach your blacksmith every piece in the set so you'll always be able to complete those. The recipes themselves, however, are quite rare.

I've personally found 5 legendaries in Inferno to go along with a demon hunter set piece, so they're out there. smile

Jaffa, did you make a combat calc for Civ3? I saw your name and that came to mind.

On topic: I see now that I have so little chance for Legendary as I have zero MF on two of my champs and none have even as much as 10%. I read that players do a switch to MF gear, but I have no idea how that is done in D3. Easy in LoD. Far as I can see you would have to manually swap some item(s). Not so easy in a fight (at least for me).

I used to play in Civ3 succession games, but nothing like that.

Yes, manually swapping items is what people are doing. I don't do it myself, so can't comment on how easy or otherwise it is.

In addition to manually swapping just before mob death, prior to the chest magic find nerf people would clear out Whimsyshire and then put on mf gear and open up all the clouds/pinatas. Also, if you have okay stats on your magic find suit you can just wear it all the time and do easier content.

One thing to keep in mind is that at 60 you get the Nephalem Valor buff that stacks up to 75% magic find. So even if you just have a little bit of mf (say 25% from an amulet) you're at 100% magic find. Someone with a good mf suit of 225% mf and full NV will be at 300%, so only twice as likely to find a legendary than you would. That's significant, but not a huge difference in the grand scheme of things.

MF also applies to the number of affixes on what drops.

It is a stat I completely ignored in D2, but seems to be important in D3.

Sigh.
