Gillette Turn Discussion

We need a mention in this thread when the turn changes. I was catching up on the discussion and scooter's most recent comment confused me because I didn't realize he was talking about the next turn already. lol

Warrior continuing NW will not reveal much land for the next few turns, although he will reveal some coast. But if we keep sending him off into the black then we are committing to building another warrior for garrison. Are we sure we will want to do that? If we are then yes, let's keep him following the coast. But if not then we need to start thinking about bringing him home, in which case N will reveal the forest 2N2W and allow a quicker return.

Scout...hmmm. I agree with yuris that we don't want to leave that chunk of fog north of the capital. Revealing all the nearby areas, including to the east and southest, is what we wanted to do so we can make the settling decision for city #2 with complete information. So I think we should start bending to the east and even southeast to not leave any fog north of the capital. I like E-NE onto the hill to uncover the tile 2E1S. Being on the hill will uncover most of what NE-E would have revealed anyway, and avoids leaving the fogged tile.

Quoting the screenshots post from that thread here seems like the way to go, to me.

E-NE for the scout makes sense. We'll probably hit a point pretty soon where he'll get stuck on one move for a turn or two.

For the warrior, I think we can do a little more exploring. There isn't too much else to be revealed, but our capital should be safe without a garrison for a little while yet. SevenSpirits speculated in the metagaming thread that teams started 20 tiles apart, and we're only on turn five, so even if someone is beelining us with their warrior, we have time before they arrive.

Am I mistaken, or are we up? HitAnyKey indicated in the tech/issues thread that Menagerie was done, before the discussion on automatic email notifications started.

Looks like warrior NW again, unless we want to bring him back to the capital now that we are making contact with others. Where was our second point of contact? I had though it was their scout meeting our scout, but now it seems clear the green team is near our scout.

Would it be worth taking a couple turns with the scout to try to get visibility on their capital before we resume circling around? Visibility would help with tracking their builds and such, if I understand the C&D side of things. If we do not want to do that, then SE-S to clear fog seems like the best option to me.

Scout didn't seem a clear consensus so I did what I thought best. I figure that checking our border is more important than checking Parkins.

I agree with your scout move. It looks like there is a hill between the city and the tile we could have moved to, so we wouldn't have gotten visibility anyways. I like SE for the scout next, though NE-NE might get us close to the inner sea.

Having our warrior so far from Occam's Razor with all these other teams about makes me a little nervous, but I think we can send him N or NW to take one last look at the coast before sending him back.

I like S for the scout. That would put him on a hill, and it looks like 2S is not forested so this should give him view to all the fogged tiles south-ish of that tile. He should then be able to go S-SE the following turn and start moving east again without leaving a big chunk of unrevealed tiles.

Warrior NW again. I am also uneasy about having our capital empty, but we should still be safe for a while longer. And if we are not...then at least we will be out before investing too much time in the game. lol

I would prefer Scout SE, then next turn SW-SE; then all tiles north of the capital will be revealed. S gives no advantage over SE, but SE gives more information this turn

Warrior NW, yes
