Uber Diablo!

Hot off the presses, here is the tale of the druid variant team's battle against Uber Diablo. Believe me, it was quite an experience last night! smile

Incidentally, I came across a post on another site saying that the case where everybody gets kicked from the game, but can rejoin with no interruption (Uber D didn't even heal), is caused by one of the anti-duping scanners on battle.net. And this jells with the observation that for once we had a nice stable game server to play on that night, before that one-time kickout.

So it would seem that we somehow triggered the dupe detector in the massive piles of potions and corpses that we were scattering across the landscape... lol

Hehe, that was fun, even if I was lagged to hell through most of the fight. Thanks for writing this up Sullla smile

Yep, thanks. smile

At least now I managed to find a Glide wrapper so I should be able to continue without nearly so much video lag! Anyone else who is using Direct3D, I can give anyone who needs it a pointer to the link I found (via Amazon Basin.)

In case this does not work out try to switch over to DirectDraw mode with the Video Test tools. I didn't notice any lose of detail doing this other than a small colorshift.

D2/LoD has Direct3D v6.1 implemented which is long ago on a PC-timescale. For me even with a GF7 card Direct3D mode gets choppy at times and i know by the use of more up-to-date games it's not in the responsability of card or driver. In DirectDraw mode its smooth going at a stable framerate even with a ton of critters or effects on screen. thumbsup

Oh boy. That's why I think that in a long run, some of those variants can be unenjoyable... Not for me, I'm not for such a borefest. :P (click-click-clickity-click!)

Stumbled over this screenie today. It shows my plaguezon's Dancing_Cloud first encounter with Diablo Clone in August 2007. During the 3 hour fight he created this really nice bone garden before handing over his precious. I'm usually not into taking screenies but this was a sight i had to save.
