If we have a bad showing, we'll have to use Dantski's avatar and replace the three letter word with "the Real Ms. Beyond SGOTM team".
Then we'll sack the captain and ban his comments.

Compromise Wrote:Lee is right that we'll need to keep this one moving forward, especially with end-of-the-year holidays, vacations, and a game deadline. Here's what I'd like to try for moving the game forward (this is very rough; we'll refine it before we begin; feel free to offer suggestions): I think we need to limit the amount of other Civ games we're playing; I had too many open during the key, early phases of SGOTM5. Given that Kodii, Lee, and I have a few games each ongoing at the moment, and we have holidays coming up, I'd propose that we play our individual test games by the year end, pool our inputs, and aim to start the game itself by week ending 6 January.
Although that may seem rather late, if we can plot the strategy in advance then the play will be more rapid than in SGOTM5 where were making it up - more or less - as we went along.

Compromise Wrote:@Jabah: You could lurk for a while (if you do, please offer comments) and then join us if you happen to get Warlords out of the bargain bin for Christmas. But I will say that usually lurkers seem to lose interest. I don't know what it is: Maybe the long discussions get skipped so they're not up to date, or the temptation to either play a parallel game or read the other threads gets to be too much.
I will be lurking, but usually I end up lurking several teams (and in case of SGOTM5 playing it).
Reading the long discussions is often quite interesting, but the difference between the various teams (in fact especially the ones who know every little bit of 'Civ Code') make it sometimes painfull to follow yours and not being able to post.
ex : in SGTOM5, one team (Murky I think) did realise that the starting island was too small for barb to spam cities there while you (and several other teams) rushed to settle spot fearing losing valuable ressources. (same with domination vs conquest / WW ...)

1 gold in the BFC. If we get such a treat early on, I imagine nasty things coming our way lateron, no?

@sunrise - have you signed up for the game yet?

Welcome aboard, sunrise. It's good to have you with us.
It looks like our team thread will open on Monday (or a bit later depending on Gyathaar's social schedule).
If it's okay with the team, I'd like to use the first non-AlanH post as an intro and guideline post and the second as an ongoing turn summary post. (See Murky's SGOTM5 thread for example; it's a good read too).
So I'd like to make the first two posts in the thread. I'll be trying to pay attention, but if I miss it, could someone PM me or post here so I don't delay the pouring forth of our collective rambl...err...wisdom?

how are you placed for team members - I'm thinking of playing.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.
