Index & Summary Thread

This thread is intended to be a series of relatively brief & on-point posts summarising plans we make and overviews of domestic & foreign affairs every 10 turns or so, with links back to where the discussion happened.

It doesn't matter who posts stuff - I'll start the ball rolling with a summary of what our initial plan was, and I'd quite like to do the Turn 10 report, just to give an idea of what is inside my head, but other than those two posts please feel free to jump in & write them yourselves smile

I'd rather keep the discussion out of this thread, so if I (or anyone writing these) gets something wrong/misrepresents something can you put it in some other appropriate thread & then I can edit the post here to put things right.

  • Apolyton: Elizabeth (Fin/Phi) of Ottomans (Jannisary, Hamman, Agriculture/Wheel)
  • Spanish Apolyton: Boudica (Agg/Cha) of Zulus (Impi, Ikhanda, Agriculture/Hunting)
  • CivFanatics: Mansa Musa (Fin/Spi) of India (Fast Worker, Mausoleum, Mining/Mysticism)

Domestic Affairs

Exploration

Dotted yellow line shows the path the warrior took. Black dots are barb animals seen, we're currently waiting to see if the warrior survives his close encounter with a lion.

Hunting was researched on T9, with one turn of researching Mining in order to create confusion for other C&D departments about which of the two techs we'd actually researched. Research target is now Pottery.

Yellow dot marks the site for our next city, placed to have the gold resource first ring and to share the deer with the capital after extensive sims showed that this was strongest (see next post).

City

Included for completeness, nothing much interesting yet. Worked Forested Plains Hill to the south of the city tile initially, and on T10 switched to working the Deer. (Apart from one turn in the middle where the Deer was erroneously worked).

Turn reports between posts 3 and 13 of the turn report thread. Discussion between posts 2 and 320 of the turn discussion thread.

Foreign Affairs

No contact with any other teams so far, all the following information gleaned from C&D.

Map has 318 tiles per team (see here) and starts are thought to be similar although maybe not precisely identical. 6 teams have a single water tile first ring, of other two (CivFanatics and Spanish Apolyton) one has a single water tile 2nd ring, the other has no water tiles.
  • We Play Civ: Settled T1. Built a Warrior T8, researched Hunting finishing T9, capital grew T9.
  • Spanish Apolyton: Settled T0. Researched Mining finishing T9. Worker built first. Probably researching BW now.
  • Apolyton: Settled T1. Researched Hunting finishing T9. Worker first. Probably researching AH now.
  • Civforum.de: Settled T1. Researched Hunting finishing T9. Worker first.
  • CivFr: Settled T0, probably on a food resource like us. No tech yet. Worker first.
  • CivPlayers: Settled T1. No tech yet. Worker first.
  • CivFanatics: Settled T0, probably in place. Researched Agriculture finishing T10. Worker first. Probably researching BW now.
  • UniversCiv: Settled T1, possibly on PH. No tech yet, Warrior built T6, capital grew T9.

Discussion between posts 67 and 131 of the C&D thread.

Discovery of a Gold resource to the NE prompted another micro plan focusing on second city placement.
