Defense pact has been offered.

I hope you don't mind my rover near your base. It intends to move SE next turn and then further south. I need to know the lay of the land to figure out the best way for us to connect our trade networks.

It's no problem.

Also, geeze, who the hell do I have to bribe next time to get a start with food alright...

Sareln, I feel we should discuss our expansion plans
  • to avoid unwanted surprises
  • so that we can link up our trade networks, which won't be possible without an additional base, because of the sea fungus on those southern coast tiles.
  • because a no-mansland would be a waste of space, which we don't have in abundance.

Here's a map with some proposals dotted.

Dot 1 would connect our trade networks after the base had a border expansion.

Dot 2 could not connect our trade networks. However you could found there if I found a base in the south. Advantage to you: with that position you can completely block the northern entry to your lands for non-choppers. Advantage to me: I feel a little safer because the base is one plot further away from me.

Dot 3 would connect our trade networks after the base had a border expansion.

Dot 4 wouldn't even need a border expansion to connect our trade networks, as all the sea fungus would be included in our culture, so the rest of the route can flow along the clear coast plots. Further advantage to you: with that position you can completely block the southern entry to your lands for non-choppers. And you get +20% combat strength. Advantage to me: I feel a little safer because the base is one plot further away from me.

Any preferences?

@Maniac, how about I take 2 & 4 and you get everything else beyond that in your direction (specifically the northern peninsula thingy w/ the gold on it). This seems to makes more sense IMO b/c you've already got a silver and the land is way greener on your side of the ridge. It's going to be a hard-scrabble life for the Cyborgs I'm afraid...

Also, I think dot 4 will create a trade connection after it and your base get their expansions, which should happen relatively quickly <12 turns.

The problem with that is:
1) I have no idea how big that peninsula is. Might it end right after where I stopped exploring?
2) There's a spawning spot over there, which would require an investment in military to clear up. I don't feel like building flamethrowers at the moment.

I'd be willing to help w/ 2.

Looking at my map I see a pretty sweet city for you "7", "7" of dot 3 if I take 2 and 4. Or is that too cramped?

A base there wouldn't give me any bonus resources, so it has very low priority for me. Besides, that position ("spot 5") is much closer to me, so it kind of naturally belongs to me should I wish to found there (which I don't). As a consequence I do not consider it a bargaining chip for you to grant. Unless you have no land for expansion at all to your eastern side, me only getting spot 5 and you getting both 2 and 4 doesn't strike me as a fair deal. You get everything and I nothing.

What I've got to my right is, well, marginal is a polite word for it. But it's more than nothing I suppose.

How about I take 3, you take 1, and I want to buy that silver off of you in the future.
