I would love to get to that red tile in the southwest though, since that is a lot of tiles to reveal with one move... Wouldn't we be safe from all one-move barbarian units there? If the only units that could hit us are a panther or a wolf, and only if they happened to be on two specific tiles, I'd feel a lot safer about moving there.

Hmmm... we will probably know if the tile SW of red is water or not once we've scouted blue.

A large part of the reason I was thinking about omitting red was due to simple safety - losing the warrior would be disastrous, and red is only a hill. OTOH, SW of red would have to cross a river, making it safer.

Might be an idea to do that. With this map, I think it's more important than usual to get new cities up and running as soon as possible - and that means having the workers pre-placed to road and hook up resources. If we can speed up settling 1t with roads, then it doesn't matter if the settler is built 1t later.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure we will need our third warrior to secure our third city, so we can't send it too far away either.

I guess we need to remember that by the time we'd look to settle SW, we could research fishing very quickly, on the other hand I feel like uncovering land tiles is more important than sea tiles right now just so we can have a better idea over where Horses/Copper will be.

I like SE then NE, because it gives us time fortify AND spawnbust the east. It would suck if a barb spawns while our warrior is hanging out to the west.

I feel a bit concerned about the fact that a warrior could appear on the PH 2NE of the capital giving only 2 turns to react. I assume that's a risk we are willing to take.

I agree with Nico.

Yeah, it doesn't look like we have time to go west.

In any case it's fairly likely we will want to settle city 3 for copper or horses, and they are not likely to be in the coastal FP spot. So we should scout there at the first opportunity, but it doesn't have to be before that settler.

We can mitigate the problem with a warrior appearing to our northeast by playing late in the turnset. As long as we play after the warrior-start teams I think the risk is manageable.

Since we're also guessing on early contact between WPC and the Germans, that means we only want to play later than Apolyton, CivFr, and CFC.

Anyway, my vote is for C (only southeast), maybe with one additional move SE/E on T21. Then send the warrior north to secure Mansa's Muse from T28 onward.

I'm hearing mostly support for the southeast plan. We'll go with that one. In that case, I'd like to get out our next warrior slightly earlier, on T36, so we can explore the southwest corner more quickly.

I can easily delay playing our turn until most of the other teams have played. Let me know if that's what you genuinely want me to do.

I am also in favor of going SE. Also, I am favor of taking fewer risks when possible given the nice plan we have in place at the moment.

I guess we ought to play our turns promptly if that's what we want everyone else to do. If everybody's waiting for everybody else to play, we'll always use the whole timer.
