Quote:When he called the vote "pointless" it made my ears perk up, but I think it fits in with that same read. He knows he's got to vote for someone, but he doesn't have anything and just wants to get the show on road already to prove to everyone that he's not a jerk.
You are seriously overthinking things. I said that my vote was pointless because it is. It's my first vote on the first day, before half the players have checked in & there's almost no information to go by.
I explained my very thin reasoning because otherwise I'd get reactions of "omg he's voting for Novice", and it's dumb to vote for somebody without providing any sort of reason
That said, is voting for Novice really a terrible idea? I couldn't cite a specific example, but wasn't he a really effective wolf in at least one game? And if he isn't a wolf here, the wolves know it, and since he's also known to be an excellent villager I imagine he'd be an obvious first target. So, either a wolf or a villager who (in my thinking) might not be long for this world.
Still, that's the sort of meta-game thinking I hate, and based on a lot of big assumptions, so I am more than happy to change my vote once I have at least something to go on.

Disclaimer: This vote is pointless. If it has a meaning I don't know it.
Maniacccc. We might as well have a pointless, polarizing rivalry that serves no purpose from day 1.
Btw Bigger does that mean each day is 100 years.

Hmm, I think that you're reading that differently than I intended. When people qualify votes it's can be a a wolf tell, often subconsciously (trust me on this one.) I saw your qualification and took notice (and I bet I wasn't the only one) and what I was trying to say that I think it made sense as a someone who was earnestly trying to prove his worth than as a wolf slip. It's more of a village tell than a wolf tell imo, assuming my read is right.

The part you're missing is that if he flips village, the wolves will just hit the next person on their list. So you're down two strong villagers after Night 1 instead of one. If he flips wolf you're better off, but at the start of the game, when no one knows anything, everyone is more likely to be a villager than a wolf because there's more of us.

no, that would make it quite difficult for me to moderate. I doubt I'll be around 100 years from now. .

Note how it does not say "when the NAP alliance is destroyed". Def. vague enough to account for one or more additional Wolf factions. Was the same in last game, with no third party. I'd guess Bigger just copied the line and idea from there. Still with the setup, I would not be surprised if there's more than village vs nappies. But I do doubt 2 wolf teams, because of http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showpost....tcount=121
Lewwyn. Got a scummy vibe from his post against Injera. A bit forced suspicion, while still trying to stay neutral on it. Too careful.

Once the voting got underway he realised the logical approach at this post would be to string up the silent, as he really hated it when people flew under the radar all day and didnt do an honest days work.
As such he pointed to one of the silent members of the meeting and announced
"What about stringing up Brickastley?"
before falling back to observe and listen on the groups suggestions

Don't do that. That's just an information black hole, and if you're both innocent distracts you from doing any wolf hunting. Seeking to cultivate pointless rivalries is a bad thing.

And just to brainstorm along that idea.. there are two obvious non-human threats that could well serve the purpose of other wolf factions. The Aliens and the Mindworms. The Aliens I would bet could be implemented as a Feuder type role, while the mindworms I'm not sure about. Recruiters who get to take over the mind of people like Cha Dawn and Deirdre?

Technicianly, it is, if you expect him to be night killed. Unless you just think he "needs to feel the heat". (Let's see if you get that one, Pindicator.)
If you know what I mean.

Bobchillingworth Wrote:Pointless starting vote on novice, because he's really good in every game he's in (that I've lurked / participated in, at least), and I'd rather get rid of a potentially very dangerous veteran than someone who... isn't. If he isn't a wolf, I imagine he'll be one of the first they'll kill anyway.
Thanks for the compliment. Injera said it best though - Lynch me and the wolves will just nightkill the next person on their list.
By the way, are there aliens in the SMAC universe?

Why did you vote for me then, Zak?
