Or should I have said "Me neither"? Damn English. In any event, I have no name.

Bobchillingworth Wrote:That said, is voting for Novice really a terrible idea? I couldn't cite a specific example, but wasn't he a really effective wolf in at least one game? And if he isn't a wolf here, the wolves know it, and since he's also known to be an excellent villager I imagine he'd be an obvious first target. So, either a wolf or a villager who (in my thinking) might not be long for this world.
Still, that's the sort of meta-game thinking I hate, and based on a lot of big assumptions, so I am more than happy to change my vote once I have at least something to go on. Injera Wrote:The part you're missing is that if he flips village, the wolves will just hit the next person on their list. So you're down two strong villagers after Night 1 instead of one. If he flips wolf you're better off, but at the start of the game, when no one knows anything, everyone is more likely to be a villager than a wolf because there's more of us. Also, reasonably sure he's shows the potential to be a reasonable strong village player when he's not wolf. So it's pretty much just "stong player all 'round", which is a terrible reason to vote for someone, given the fact village alignment is so much more likely given no other tells.
Voting BRickAstley for being even more tardy than I am.

novice, I'm voting zakalwe for much the same reason a few votes were cast your way. Just saw the tally, and spreading votes that far is useless for sake of applying pressure. So you can have it instead.
I think the name thing is a red herring, I don't think it gives us any leads either way (don't think the ones who were suspicious were wrong to be so and don't think the lack of name indicates suspicion after Molach also claimed not having a name).
Maniac, did you do a role claim?

He mentioned being Santiago.

For what it's worth, ditto.
I'm also somewhat against the name claim for the same reason I was against it in FFHWolf. If Bigger has used the names to inform the powers it gives the wolves something to go on when picking a night target. But I'm not really massively against it. Either a full claim or full secrecy is going to be fairly marginal with regards to ultimate success, so better to just let people do what they want with the reveal of names.
If we're going to get any gameplay value out of a name claim, it is best to do it now and en masse rather than piecemeal and over the whole game.

Well, I'm back since yesterday evening from my holiday trip and had to sleep first and today I needed to unpack, wash myself, go and buy stuff to eat and cook that stuff. Oh, doing my laundry was also important. So, no time to post here.
Anyhow, it doesn't seem like I missed much. I don't have any strong feelings about anyone right now. The one I found most suspicious is Qgqqqqq, because I agree with zakalwe that there are soft undertones of manipulation to be heard.

The whole idea of voting people for pressure needs to have some sort of minor reason at least for voting them.
If everybody just says for example I am voting for zak for pressure then why should he bother responding (infact how can he respond?). Also these type of votes float off easily anyway

I guess I do agree that votes without much justification can't really be addressed. Unvote. Selrahc, I meant Maniac claiming to have Clinical Immortality. Wasn't sure if that was a joke or not, as various kinds of immunity are often used.

Selrahc, if you're somewhat against the name claim, why did you confirm that you don't have a name?
I'm going back and forth on the matter, myself. What exactly do we hope to gain from having everybody claim? If there is nothing to be gained, it stands to reason there could be something to be lost.
In the FFH game, "names are not indicative of alignment" was the spiel, and lots of people claimed their names early, disregarding the fact that names could correlate with abilities. In that game, I had a strong protective role, and my name very much gave that away. Yet people kept pushing for me to claim, and I ended up having to do just that.
Once again, here is what Bigger said about names, emphasis mine:
Bigger Wrote:Role playing is possible for those that choose too - none of the names will give clues to the scumminess of the player, so revealing your name shouldn't help or hurt you stay alive. Having a general knowledge of Alpha Centauri won't really help you catch wolves or fool the village, although it might help you enjoy the game more
If you know what I mean.
