[SPOILER] ww15 Lurker thread - No living players allowed!

I don't really like the jumping on the "heh." That doesn't nessecarily sound lighthearted to me, it could just as easily be fatalistic or have no meaning at all.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

so, any guesses when/how the U.N. Charter will be repealed?

Obviously, Catwalk is/was not the only person with an atrocity, any guesses to what other atrocities might entail?

Now that is a wall of text to beat all wall of texts lol
Color-coded and everything for your convenience.

On another note, the three newbies don't seem to be contributing or participating much. Not sure if they are just overwhelmed by all the content, or unsure what to do, or what. While that certainly means they won't have much affect on the early game, it also means they are likely to live long (being quiet means they aren't likely to say anything that would get them lynched, and if they are village they aren't doing anything to scare scum). I wouldnt be surprised if at least 2, and maybe all 3 of them make it to the end game.

Atrocities:

Poison gas
Ought to be a vig ability as well, but I dont think you'd duplicate it. Not sure how it'd work if not vig, though.

Nerve stapling
This one is interesting, could be a role blocking or silencing ability.

I'm guessing that there is a player with the ability to repeal the UN charter by himself, although it'd make more sense thematically for there to be a vote about it. Maybe Santiago can make this proposal?

Good guesses! Those 2 are in the game, although you aren't quite right on what they do.

I originally had a "genetic warfare" atrocity w/ a village aligned player, and one other atrocity, in one of my drafts, but uberfish convinced me to take them both out (for balance reasons).

These games are so much harder when you don't really know the lore. I've read every post but just have a headache. I did play the game a few times but long ago and not remotely enough to understand the lore well.

Anyway, big games are always semi-uninteresting early, I'm sure it will be easier to follow when another handful of players have been eliminated.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I'd be interested in seeing the atrocities used ... but then again, looks like that would require a UN repeal, which probably means that it has a double-step locking system.

Meaning ... one person has the key to triggering a repeal. (meaning, that if that one person has enough self control, the UN will NEVER be repealed.)

Additionaly, if they do trigger a repeal, there has to be a vote on it. I'm going to assume that the repeal can be triggered multiple times to make it a bit more balanced ... and I'm also going to assume that even if someone DID want to repeal the UN, the trigger won't be usable until ... say Day 2 or 3.

And who knows, maybe the UN is automatically repealed on day 5 or something.

Way too fast on the reveal for Serdoa.

I was wondering if it was going to happen today. My guess was yes.

Novice is hard to lynch; Serdoa has some herding ability, but probably not enough to get novice lynched, so the reveal doesn't surprise me. It would have been better if he waited, of course.
