Maybe we should aim for settling agreements on both flanks and race towards the center.
If you know what I mean.

No word from TEAM. I think we need to prepare for the possibility that they declare and enter our borders. Most natural course of action is that they enter on the forest tile or 1 south of it on T31. If that happens I'm afraid we will need another warrior to prevent them from pillaging our pigs mine and still settle our city on timely fashion. Our best option could be that we whip the settler out and overflow on warrior or dry whip warrior after completing settler. In this case AH > Pottery since we want to settle copper NW from us before gold.

Quote:No, you haven't. You've also neglected to mention how intelligent and handsome we are :-). So I took a stab at what looks like a good "neutral zone", i.e. an are in which neither team can plant a city.

I should warn you I haven't vetted this with my team yet, but I figure let's get the ball rolling. I think an appropriate NAP duration would cover the initial expansion phase of the game, so somewhere in the range 30-50t. 40t is right in the middle, maybe we start there?

An e-mail from TEAM!
Quote:Team Trolls,
You seem to have a pretty good handle on us. Unlike Lord Parkin who will probably send you novellas filled with self-congratulatory prattle and not so subtle sycophancy, or 7 & scooter's team, who will likely butter you up with hours of chat logs while they rob you blind, we simply cut out the BS. You want to win and we want to win. And no doubt, at some point, those purposes will be contradictory. But there is no reason why we cannot work together on common purposes.
You have probably heard from Team Paper Cut (since EP suggests you guys are old friends) that we are raving lunatics. We are at war with them for our own reasons. Since you share a border with TPC, perhaps you wouldn't mind giving us some general information on their location and current status. You know, enemy of my enemies and such . . .
Also it appears Parkin's team is building a lot of mines. Given past history, I would expect some wonder-whoring. As a collective group, we should probably make sure he doesn't get to play SimCiv this game.
We are going to keep diplo as short and direct as possible. Most of us are too lazy for intensive Civ strategy talk, let alone useless diplo nonsense. We have been waiting to meet you guys because we thought all along that you would probably be honest enough guys to work with, and because we could live with a Trolls victory if you out played us.

Gaspar is likely to be their diplomat, judging from this message, for whatever that's worth.
Sounds like a good message, I think. I think all teams regard us in a similar way to what TEAM said here and that'll probably work to our advantage (we could really try to exploit it too, if not for the fact that not exploiting this sort of thing is what gave us our fame in the first place and I don't think we want to start it now ).

It seems both our neighbors are symphatetic to us. That is excellent news. We should sign fair border deal with both of them alongside with a long NAP ~T100-110 and farmer's gambit ourselves to good position. Darell I would try to get a deal with both of them and now I wouldn't mind you using chat to get things finalized faster.
This also means that both Pyramids and GLH plans are alive again .

Draft reply:
Quote:We have an agreement with Gillette to keep our respective scouting information confidential without first obtaining permission to share, so alas we will be unable to provide any details on that subject. Our relations have been fairly amicable to this point, although given our proximity and the distribution of resources between us there is little doubt friction will develop.
We appreciate the sentiment that you wouldn't hate to see us win. As you can guess from our roster we are in it more for the journey than the destination. Besides, novice is convinced we have a) the worst leader/civ pairing and b) the worst opening plan. I'm starting to realize novice is a grade A pessimist, so who can say. Despite how mean Krill is to me, I find your TEAM and the whole concept behind it hilarious, so I wouldn't mind losing to you as well .
I should mention that I am not going to be doing chats this game. Dial me up to talk about supermodels, football (global or American), politics, etc. anytime you want. Just no RBDG1 talk. Nothing personal, I'm not chatting with any of the teams, because a) I don't want to invest the time, and b) after PB2 I think chats ruin the game.
