WW16: The Outlaws and The Olives

Starting Story Flavor:

"The mayor is dead!"
"They're sneaking around at night, none of us are safe!"
"Who are you, and why must you do this to us!?"
"We'll give you our land, just leave us alone!"
"Filthy bastards, I wish I could kill them all right now!"
"Send the women and children away, keep them safe from this menace."
"Maybe we all should just leave and let them have the town."
"We will NOT let them have our village!"

Everybody stopped and turned to the booming voice from outside the door.

"This is our village, and our familes have lived here for years past remembrance. We will not simply run away and let them have our land and our memories. Send those too weak away to safety, but the rest of us will stay and figure out the invaders in our midst, or die trying."

And so it was done; a few hours later, all that remained were 26 of the villagers, the strongest and most prominent. They gathered in the sacred grounds of the old chuch, and started to reason. It was agreed that with the mayor dead, they would vote to elect a new mayor, and that they would also vote on who they thought was affiliated with the mafia, and at nightfall they would execute the one chosen.

"May God be with us as we exterminate the scourge among us."

Let the debates begin.

Rules:

1. Each day will last 48 hours. The day ends at 2100 GMT. Votes at :59 will count, but :00 will not. The timestamp on the post is the judge.
2. Each person may vote for one person each day to be lynched. Votes can be changed infinite amount of times a day, the last vote given before deadline will count as that player's vote.
3. Votes must be made in red or they will not count.
4. The person with the most votes at the end of the day will be lynched. Ties will be decided by the Mayor, who will get an extra vote on whichever person he is voting for in the case of a tie. If the Mayor's vote is not on one of the two, they will be asked to choose.
5. The Mayor will be decided by simple majority, one vote per person, made in cyan, and will stay with the winner until he is killed, whereupon a new mayor will be elected.
6. The day ends even if the GM is not present or online at the time of the deadline.
7. After each day ends, there will be a 24-hour night. Players with night abilities may send a PM to me to use their power that night. Abilities will be used at the end of the night and processed in a logical order. You may cancel or change the target of your night ability until night ends. The last PM will override all previous PMs. PMs timestamped on or after :00 will not count for that night, as with voting.
8. Players may not communicate with each other outside the thread unless given specific instructions to do so.
9. Dead players may make one posthumous post that doesn't contribute to discussion.
10. Anyone failing to vote for 2 consecutive game days will be mod killed and removed from the game with a loss.
11. Do not edit posts for any reason.
12. Anyone violating the rules will receive punishment proportional to the violation.
13. Check your PMs and make sure you're alive before posting.
14. Players may not directly quote PMs from the GM in the game thread.
15. Forum profile camping is not allowed.
16. Players may not read the lurker thread until they are removed from gameplay.

Village Role PM:

Villager - You are a normal villager. You have decided to stand up to the mafia, and to do what it takes to root them out from your beloved town. However, you realize that you risk death in doing so, and that you are likely to be forced to embrace it.
Win Condition - You win with the village when all mafia are dead and there is at least one villager alive.

Notes revealed in the sign-up thread pre-game:

- This will be a power-role-light game. Less than half of the players will have a power role, the rest will be regular villagers or mafia.

- This game will have lesser-seen powers. The roles I have drawn up and run by my testers are ones either not often or never before seen in RB werewolf games. That also means that you will not be seeing common roles here, and I can state for a fact that there will be no classic seer, baner, or roleblocker roles, as they are often included in games here.

- The roles included will be useful and enjoyable, but will not be the main focus of the game. None of them are very swingy, and while they can definitely be helpful, I do not think that they will be what makes or breaks this game. I have constructed the setup to try and ensure that that the primary driving force of the game will be discussion and deduction in the main thread, and either side must be successful there to win the game.

- There are two factions, Villagers and Mafia. No third-party, no lone-rangers, no surprise factions.

- I will give each player a profession name (I.e. farmer, craftsman, tax collector) to be used in write ups and if anyone wants a spot of role playing. However these will be strictly separate from any roles or gameplay, to avoid meta speculation.

- I've planned out roles and player distributions based on 20 signups, since games lately have been attracting about that many people and I think that that is a nice round number. However, if more/fewer people sign up I'll be able to accommodate that.

And remember, you are voting for mayor as well as for lynch.

Hey all. So, I'm not mafia and I'm going to bed now. And I'll be gone for the next 48h, see you!
(I hope to sneak net access now and then, but no idea how much that will add up to)
(also will try to sneak some internet time past the wife in the morning, also no guarantees about that)

If anyone wants to place a vote on me during my absence, make sure to fill out Form WW53a for requesting permission to lynch innocents.

Also, Waterbat should hang. Everybody knows the church is in on the mafia.

I'm gonna point my pitchfork at Molach. Let's see what's in that guitar case.
If you know what I mean.

Catwalk. Day one sucks and everyone hates Bureaucats. :oldwink:

And because he already has experience leading the tinfoil hat brigade - Rowain.

Feels good to be back. I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune in like 24 hours, so let's enjoy it for the moment.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I wonder how many day 1 votes it would take to get Gaspar to blow up this time?

I also think Twinkletoes is a safe vote for mayor. He gave me a great haircut last week and seems like a swell guy.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Do you expect us to believe that you randomly made Tasunke the book reviewer a Librarian, Catwalk the contrarian a Bureaucrat, Rowain the belligerent a Town drunk, and Lewwyn the bully a Garbage collector? lol

Anyway... As a professional secretary I believe I've learned the ins and outs of serving as Mayor, so vote novice for mayor. As for who to execute, I've heard that Tasunke likes burning things, we really can't have any of that nonsense.
I have to run.

Lewwyn for all the noise he makes while I try to recover from a long night

This comes off as overly defensive, no?

Gaspar and Bigger, do we really want paranoid conspiracy theorists leading this village?

+1 - I'm the milkman, but I'm actually lactose intolerant cry

I'm no fan of bureaucrats, but Catwalk seems harmless enough so far, and I want to see how far he can role-play a bureaucrat :D
