Tasunke Wrote:well, personally I don't think the term 'trolling' even applies on day 1.
first: no voting analysis can be done. Swirls of fumes and mist is all that applies.
second: due to the nature of the game, anything short of an utter lack of participation (aka Bob's random shouting of nothingness) would certainly not count as trolling.
and third: no night kills, power uses, or anything else have occured to allow even 'meta' speculation. Although I know vote analysis is the best kind, I find both personality tests and meta speculation in the same 'more or less acceptable' category.
and finally, not in the list of points, but I might as well come out and say that I am a vanilla villager. Nothing, in my mind, panicky about such a claim ... since yea, I have no powers, big whoop
So yea, I guess I'm just a pretty face for this game
See told you all he would claim with just the tiny bit of pressure. Thats now 1 less person the wolves have to check out for any power roles we have

How you can immediately take it as absolute truth?
Jkaen Wrote:See told you all he would claim with just the tiny bit of pressure. Thats now 1 less person the wolves have to check out for any power roles we have
With Brick saying that at least half the town is vanilla, seems a relatively safe claim for everyone...
Town special role could claim to reduce the chance scum hit them, by exactly your reasoning.
Scum can claim because it's not likely to immediately get them killed in a counter-claim.
And of course, actual VT can claim because it's their actual role.
So, while I agree that Tasunke's early claiming habits are regrettable, and predictable enough that effort should possibly be taken to avoid it, I don't know that it necessarily clears him, or even implies that he is lacking a patricularly strong town role. Though yes, it probably clears him from minor town roles.
Tasunke's claim doesn't say anything about his alignment nor role, IMO.
Which underlines the silliness of accusing someone of pushing him to claim.
With all roles being of minor importance we could actually do a mass claim to force mafia to choose between inventing roles and giving us a bunch of confirmed innocents... Did Brick say whether or not mafia would get roles too? Anyway, let's not do that, mass claims are boring and I think it would go against the spirit intended for this game.

The point I was trying to make by bringing this up is that this statement

Isn't necessarily true for this game - or put another way, scum would have little to earn in this game from pushing for claims - they would just create a bunch of confirmed innocents.

This is from the opening post: "This will be a power-role-light game. Less than half of the players will have a power role, the rest will be regular villagers or mafia"
I'd be surprised if mafia didn't have any pr's. But how would you recognize "confirmed" innocents from false claims?
Changing my vote to Jkaen. Seems like he did not even concider that Tas would be lying about his role.

If you want then I vote for my friend the bartender: Merovech. Thats a few free drinks for me right?
Of course! Since we sent all but 26 people away, I have far too much alcohol to sell! I would also like to echo Rowain's question to BRick and am going to change my vote to Pindicator-I dont like his rational for voting Bigger much; I thought Bigger was just joking/ role playing.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

everybody starts with joke votes, I get that. But 4 posts and every one of them is a joke? If he contributes better I have no problem changing my vote, but every post being a joke is not helpful. Yeah, so I messed up the terminology for it -- i'll grant that -- but it's still distraction

I hate to vote on a absentee, but this second post just rings false. catwalk
Really could say the same thing about your 2nd post as well
re: thestick - isn't 20 questions how he played it last game as a villager? i was pretty convinced he was scum last game, and wrong, which makes me want to see more from thestick before deciding towards him
re: tasunke - same thing, i want to see more. his day 1 reveals are so predictable now it looks like he even realizes he has to do it otherwise he'll look fishy. So I agree with novice, his reveal tells nothing. Although today's reveal seems to be the least amount of pressure he was under before revealing.
Rowain Wrote:What do you mean with playeers needed to lynch??? I thought the one with the most votes at the end of day gets lynched not an instadeath once someone reaches majority. Same for mayor or?
That is right, we play with the player with the most votes at the end of the day being the one lynched. I'm logging all of the votes in an external program to make sure my counts are accurate, and it auto-generates posts that include that line. I thought I would go ahead and leave it in, as a reminder of the current threshold that marks having half of the total votes. If it's confusing since that's reminding of a different lynch system than we use, I can cut that line out from now on.
