pindicator Wrote:re: thestick - isn't 20 questions how he played it last game as a villager? i was pretty convinced he was scum last game, and wrong, which makes me want to see more from thestick before deciding towards him
I don't think so? Here's a day 1 Thestick post from last game:
thestick Wrote:Okay. Current thoughts:
-zakalwe seems to be analyzing anything that moves. It seems that he usually does that, though. Noted, moving on.
-waterbat seems to be trying to kill all the lurkers (Serdoa, Injera). A safe vote for a wolf, or feeling bitter about not killing the lurkers last game?
-I buy Injera's theory about Bob. Still think that it wouldn't be the best move to kill novice on him being a good player.
Besides that, nothing much. Who's going to compile the vote tallies since Rowain's not playing?
Amusingly, he manages to namedrop four out of five wolves in that post.
Anyway, when I read Thestick's post in this game, I recognized it as the exact same kind of post I would make myself on a lazy wolf day. Read through the thread, hit the "quote multiple" button when I see something I can question, put it all together, and add a few loosely founded suspicions at the end.
I have to run.

Checking in (late I know)
At the moment it seems like a typical first day - lots of noise and hard to see anything incriminating because we have no knowledge. Thus my lynch vote as always will remain unused until I see more.
In terms of the mayor vote, I'm going to go for Lewwyn as if things are close and the mayor is influential I want the guy I think is most likely to smell out the werewolves and I know no better hunter than Lewwyn.

I will be somewhat active today and tomorrow, got it mostly covered.
I'm going to vote for Bigger, I think pindicator's suspicion is a pretty good one. Bigger made a bunch of fluff posts, could be a slow wolf wanting to appear active while debating with his partners in crime.
novice for mayor, arguing that wolves are less likely to campaign for mayor (very likely scrying target) and he's a good player.

Just caught up after the match - Beautiful Arsenal today, really. Going to start off with a novice lazy wolf post® :oldwink:
zakalwe Wrote:By the way, Gaspar, let me declare up front that I'm willing to lynch Novice. I actually think he makes a pretty good policy lynch for day 1.
Just saying, in case you want to go there.
For the record, I knew what you meant in terms of clarification right away. I like what both you and novice sound like at this moment, however, so I'll hold off. I do agree with you that novice is a fine policy lynch simply because he's such a slippery bastard as scum and according to Brick we have no Seer to bail us out this game. (Novice being pretty much always the best day 1 scan.)
waterbat Wrote:Although lurkers (and non-playing players) really frustrate me - the tie between lurking and alignment is very weak.
Generically, perhaps - one cannot tell Sareln's alignment from his lack of participation for example. But diminished participation from people with a baseline, that's a pretty decent scumtell in absence of real info. Anyway, I still think if you've got nothing best to lynch novice, then a lurker because the lurkers don't help you win anyway.
waterbat Wrote:No, not day 1 and only 5-6 hours into the game. Lewwyn vote as good as any other. Hell, I almost voted lewwyn due to the chicken logos.
Noted same annoyance with advocacy here as Injera's for Catwalk. While sometimes you need to step up for lynchbait can we maybe let these guys defend themselves a bit before we start taking bullets for them. (This comment waterbat defending Tasunke.)
novice Wrote:With all roles being of minor importance we could actually do a mass claim to force mafia to choose between inventing roles and giving us a bunch of confirmed innocents... Did Brick say whether or not mafia would get roles too? Anyway, let's not do that, mass claims are boring and I think it would go against the spirit intended for this game.
Had this same thought rattling in my brain yesterday - power role light setup definitely makes mass claim particularly favor town - I think that's part of why we've gone to the everyone has a role setups. I don't think its a good call for day 1 but its probably going to look good down the road if we're struggling for reads.
Going to reread and probably move my vote.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Bleh, I'm actually going to just walk away for a bit. I keep looking at this sequence of events:
- Catwalk announces he's going to be AFK on Day 1.
- I suggest Catwalk might lurk as scum because he's less comfortable lying.
- Others agree with that assessment.
- Injera leaps to his defense and attacks me.
- Catwalk finds he has time to play.
And finding it incredibly suspicious. Of course, logically I understand that Injera is unlikely to make so obvious a slip. But I can't stop fixating on it.
Nonetheless, Injera.

While I don't want to defend Injera (and now I'm going to go ahead and do it anyway), I don't think wolves would jump to my defense. I'm good at defending myself, and if I was faking inactivity wolves would know about it.
Gaspar, do I need to document what I'm doing this weekend? I'm at a political convention and I had no idea if I'd have internet or not. In case I had to go off the radar, I'd rather say so up front. And I really had no time for those first two posts.

Gaspar, so you're saying that both injera and catwalk would be wolves? If that's the case, wouldn't it then make more sense to go for catwalk, since he has already votes on him?

uberfish Wrote:But do we really expect Tasunke to panic claim again just because he's done so once before? I think he would have learned from that experience.
Once? He did it in ww11 and ww12 as well. That's 3 out of 4 he's played in - and the only reason he never did it in ww13 was that he was vanilla villager then (also, I don't believe he ever received a vote - he was mostly absent/lurking during that game).
Really, uber, you were still alive at that point in ww12 and you hosted ww11, you don't recall either of them? I am not the least bit surprised Tasunke is the first to role-claim.
given this ^^ I am really not comfortable with uberfish as mayor. Nor with Rowain, who is actually quite difficult for me to read (by that I mean, he always reads scum to me, even when he is innocent). I am much more comfortable with zakalwe, who has stronger tells and also appears more pro-town at this early stage.
Also going to follow Zak onto thestick
(meow) - the 20 questions bit is odd indeed, I'd like to see a response from him.
I do find Pindicator's attack on me a little reaching, but I'm going to TRY and avoid defensive votes this game - they led me astray in ww14.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

No, I 100% believe you and I don't want to start getting specific about people's real lives - I think that's unfair. My comment was more in the generic.
Meiz Wrote:Gaspar, so you're saying that both injera and catwalk would be wolves? If that's the case, wouldn't it then make more sense to go for catwalk, since he has already votes on him?
Well, I suppose I am. But I could also conceive a wolf Injera who knows alignment could be defending Catwalk here to gain cred when he does die. I see a wolf Catwalk and an innocent Injera as a less likely scenario.
