Yeah, we did Urgoz. Even in Normal that turned out to be one insane trip.

As far as Elite Area Saturdays go, there is still to complete:
Duncan Mallyx Urgoz HM ![]() UW Furnace UW we can probably complete next meeting... as long as an ele shows up . The Furnace is very long to do all in one go, for Mallyx me and Seijin are still out of the boat, along with possibly someone else. Urgoz HM, well, your choice. I don't know if the idea of Saturday night was only Elite Areas, but since this weekend there is double faction to be gained from GvG, we could have a GvG night. It's been so long since we last organized one! or if more than 8 show up, we can always go to Urgoz HM... Just throwing the idea out there. You know that I've become the third PvP addict of the guild, as Fox once said, so I'm always more than willing to play GvG! ![]()

My English has to improve. A lot.
I don't think we have to stick to Elite, but I wouldn't want to lose half the people that would otherwise show up due to us trying to PvP. Losing consistency like that isn't healthy for a regular event. If there are some interested people, setting up a different time is better.
If I'm there and everyone wants, I can probably lead some mish-mash of builds to victory over the Tahlkora meteor shower teams that will be around.... but only if everyone wanted.
I don't know why, but I haven't been hit by the PvP bug yet.
![]() The Sorrow's Furnace shouldn't be hard anymore with all the new skills from the other campaigns. As long as it doesn't take an hour to setup I think we could kill off a few of the quests. ![]() Depending on how much HW I end up with this weekend, I"m not sure if I'll make it yet.
If you believe everything you read, better not read.
IMO Sorrow's Furnace already got a whole lot easier when Nightfall released. Playing against old Prophecies era skill sets and bringing in all the new shouty goodness without having to worry about enemy counters had quite a high impact.
Hmm... Ki Te Mutunga hasn't got the last quest there yet. There's a thought... Personally though, I want to hit Mallyx. That'll mean a serious blast at The Foundry of Failed Creations for some.
Well, so yesterday we went into Shards of Orr HM. It was very hard and took a lot of time, but in the end we did it. The setup was mostly WB as Ursan and the other 7 party members as DP farmers... plus there was the handicap of me having to go away and consequently annoying everyone on team chat
![]() ![]() The final boss took a long time since we weren't exactly coordinated... and the boss is very nasty, not to mention the really annoying mobs which we had to dispatch. Interrupts, removal of everything, heavy damage from Air Magic... bleh. We needed consumables to keep up with all the deaths! As far as I could see, the rewards were pretty good too, I saw quite a number of golds dropping and some gems from the end chest. Overall, great fun, looking forward to next Sat! UW is next right? ![]()

We were hardly chewing through them. Anyway, at least I was finally able to find a worthy obstacle to spend the Powerstone on. ![]()
So I tried to "scout" out Mallyx with a Basin group on my monk. The group was 5 ursans and 3 Healer's Boon monks, with the plan being to drop boon at the end and just straight heal. We also used a full consumeables set. The attacking groups went down easily enough, although they come in large numbers sometimes. I'd think an imbagon would be important for keeping a non-ursan group up.
Mallyx himself was a mess. He teleported half our people towards him, and then a band of margonites joined the fray. People were spread out, and our monks didn't last long between various interrupts and weak boon-less healing. The Ursans avoided attacking (because of energy degen) and just spammed the touch skills, which took him down as fast as our party. In retrospect one thing the group did wrong was to attack before mallyx was firmly by the gate, which spawned margonites that caught those still teleported up in the center. I wasn't expecting the battle to go quite like this, and basically everyone but two ursans were dead at the time mallyx died. His margonites finished the last two off and denied us the chest. More importantly though, this means my monk can't return to Mallyx without doing all those other horrid feeder areas again. ![]() An alternate approach to trying to avoid hex/condition/enchantments may be to shut down his nasty skills. Consume torment is subject to diversion even when he tries to purge himself, leaving him without it for a full minute (if a dom mesmer is around). Banish Enchantment is a spell, making it susceptible to daze. The risk is what happens when the minute is up and he tries to Consume again, whether the healing of whatever we can stack him with will have been worth it.
Yeah, shut down is high on the list in my build plan idea...
1.) Tryptophan Signet user 2.) Strength Warrior running Dwarven Battle Stance 3.) Two copies of Smooth Criminal. 4.) Everything else: Characters with heals, no-enchant prot, damage and more interrupt/shutdown gravy.
I've been reading up on Mallyx, and we're going to have an interesting time, to say the least. GuildWiki has a good guide to the mission, it can be found here. Of particular interest was this line: "Be aware that Mallyx's skills cannot be disabled for longer than their stated recharge, even through skills such as Diversion." So Diversion looks out.
Also, I don't get what Smooth Criminal is for - we can't steal monster skills, and disabling doesn't do us much good. An interesting thread on defeating Mallyx is here. Post #2 in that thread, by Sun_Fired_Blank, is particularly informative. I think I need to spend more time getting Wirr Ling's Norn rank up... ![]() |
