If we go for the attack and double upgrade, how many caravels will be in range of our galleon?

I'm leaning towards waiting for frigates and olaying defensively until then. Speaking of which: can we start a few caravel builds to time to when chemistry comes in?

Also- what about turning all our mercs into sci specs to get chem in 4?

Ducked in with the new turn: Oxford is done! I did some tile MM around More Cowbell and we're up to +983bpt at 100% science now. Pretty much stole all the cottage tiles. I still want to turn those grassland tiles into cottages :D But I can be talked into leaving the plains as ws.

Crazy kid having bad dreams means that I am having to be up so I figured I'd take a look around.

Scooter offered a cease fire, which I took. His Caravels have retreated west, presumably after having spotted our Sean Connery (galleon).

We may need to build some culture buildings in Toonces - we're down to 51/46 and 49/49 on 2 of its 2nd ring tiles. It's currently at 379/500 and getting 7cpt (pop in 18t). For now I fired a coast worker and 2 miners to hire 3 artists, which means we'll pop in 7t.

I see that you put some worker micro signs over on Inf Isle thumbsup

In the dark (it's 330 am here) I meant to hit alt-s to clear a sign on some workers and hit some other button combo that made them start automating lol So we lost 2 worker turns - please don't kill me lol

Found Krill's stack

8 horse archers

and assorted other units including a GG W3M3 Jag

Now we just need to make sure that stack doesn't come our way once it's done with Azza.... lol

Tech-wise, Scooter did finish Drama and is now on Chemistry (shocker). We may want to look into how many scientists / research we'd need to get it in 2t instead of 3. We need about 330b over the next 2 turns, so I'm not sure exactly what that would cost us. At least we're in the perfect civics for it lol Remember that we're also racing Krill as far as being able to sell it to Nakor et. al.

Speaking of Nakor (that sneak), he got Engineering this turn, which is nice since it means that we actually CAN trade him Chemistry lol

That's it for techs.

I did also try to queue up a few trireme builds to hopefully get a head start on frigates

I also finished the farms at More Cowbell, which we can turn into workshops or (cottages lol) after it grows a few more spots

Scooter as I said is on Chemistry (due in 92). Assuming that he's running max tax (I think likely), he only makes 455gpt at max tax, which compares to our 487. Krill is making 332gpt right now.

I did build a bunch of research to get Chemistry in 2 - mostly but not completely in our minor cities. Feel free to log in and take a look around but I think we need Chemistry in 2t here.

We're also going to want to be last to end turn in 2t, so that we can be in-game when it rolls and we can immediately offer Chemistry to Nakor (and probably Krill and maybe even Scooter?)

Rego and I had a little bit of a "what now?" short-term strategy session. The Yuri war is over; Scooter has offered cease fire (seems pretty obvious that he just wants us off those islands), and Rego and I figure we have 4 options:

1) Fight Krill
2) Fight Scooter
3) Fight Commodore
4) Build up and tech

#2 seems the worst option - logistically scooter is the most distant neighbor and bringing our forces that far away would seemingly open the door to Krill or potentially even Commodore coming in.

#1 is potentially doable but we would need a massive military build up. Recall how we are #2 in power, yet Krill has 50% more soldier points than us. And if we had to go up against 49 knights, as Rego said, "it would be dicey".

#3 neither of us really like, because there doesn't seem to be a clear way to make progress on people short of just massively out-producing them in mfg. If we were to invade Commodore, someone would gift him rifles. There's no doubting that, in my eyes. It's just a matter of who and when it would happen. Plus, Commodore has been really a good neighbor since that whole set-us-back-on-all-our-plans-and-try-to-take-over-our-lands misunderstanding back in the BCs.

So #4 it is, and back on our tech path: Finish Chemistry and try to sell that around. Having sight on scooter's research is a big boon here: we know we are winning the race, and we know when he will have the tech as well (i.e. how long we have to haggle prices with other teams). After Chemistry we tech Drama -> Philosophy -> Liberalism to within 1 beaker -> Sci Meth to within 1 beaker, and then finish both off quick on the run to Communism. Since it appears Krill is saving up for his own run on something right now - be it Communism or Democracy - we figure we're in for a race. Especially in for a race to get the Kremlin. (Btw - we need to settle one of those stones for Kremlin. I don't think another team is going to trade us stone for that wonder.)

Actually, we keep talking Kremlin, but neither of us have mentioned any desire to use UnivSuff or Slavery as our civics. Would you change your mind on either of those if we got the Kremlin? In our conversation we were talking about Rep / Environmentalism / Caste / SP / Theocracy or Free Religion

New turn is up and I found us with a few trade ideas from scooter

The Open Borders one I could potentially get behind. No way are we buying RP off him though - we will probably be able to swap Chemistry for that.

Also - our incense debacle with Commodore straightened out. He canceled all those superfluous deals so we just have a clean Sheep for Incense going.

We're also not at war with anybody... I'm a little unsure what to do lol

I took a few cities off of research so that we're within 1 or 2 beakers of just getting Chem. Obviously if you take the deal with Scooter then we'll have to log back in and adjust to account for the extra commerce coming in.
