So, I've got 11 turns of Golden age left.
2 for Rifling
1 for compass
1 for optics
2 for chemistry
3 for steam power (leveeeeees)
3 for steel
or, I could go corporation->assembly line, instead of steel. Infantry is really good.

ok, I limped home - I'm getting war weariness issues now - 2 unhappy in Breakfast Flock!!
Plus, whip unhappy. 33 turns of whip anger in Zuckerman's farm... geez.

he picked up nationalism, I picked up rifling.
Compass->optics next, giving me A) better visibility across the lakes and B) whales - hammers and commerce for Centaur Aisle, more happy for several cities (which is what I really need)
Building a theater in RedWall Abbey, to counteract what I presume will be higher weariness over time, plus give more culture (always good)

More building.
I killed a worker over by 100 acre woods - I had popped a GII rifle up to see what was up and i saw a worker hanging out, so I took it with CG II LB and delete both. I came out a little ahead on the hammer and losing a worker is always annoying. heh heh heh.
I expect him to pick off a worker or two of that I didn't cover effectively in retaliation. *sigh*
2 turns to FP in 100 acre Woods, building Notre Dame in the cap, get optics for the whales. Red Wall Abbey is size 19, which is as big as it'll get (unless oil shows up in the desert), so am converting farms to workshops. It's going on pure unit production now.
Centaur Aisle is getting 6 cpt from trade routes! I stole the fish from Peeg Vater to fuel it's growth. I'll give it back to Peeg Vater later. Building a harbor now.

2 turns chemistry->2 or 3 turn steel. Cannons are awesome... a stack of cannons and I can go (cause he has nothing that can flank them)

so I've been trying to decide whether to go to Nationhood.
My cap makes 118 cpt now, in a GA - that's about 100 out of the GA, though, 6 of the tiles aren't mature towns yet - couple of hamlet's rest are villages, so that could go up by another 10 or so CPT.
Dropping out costs me 50 cpt - 100 gold at 0% and 150 beakers at 100%. I save 28 gold, and that saves gets larger over time.
So,clearly economically, it's better to be in Bureau.
But, on the other hand... drafting is pretty good. Pulling in more more units while being able to build stuff is a nice thing, too.

A few turns ago, I burned one of his cities and put a stack out near Riften.
he, unsurprisingly, counterattacked in what had to be the bloodiest battles of our game.
between the 2 forces:
2 catapults
1 LB
2 spears
1 rifle
1 mace
2 pikes
10 Curaissers
20 knights
died. He lost one more unit than I did, but won the hammer exchange (1129 to 1085) and considering he killed a GG, won it pretty well.
I did come out ahead overall on the 3 turn exchange, cause I killed an important city.
39 units killed. I am guessing that the final battles will be bigger than that..
Funny thing is that the LB died on offense... attacking a catapult.

I just realized I'm going to 2 turn steel. I'll also go to mil science - grenadiers are a nice way to partially counteract the rifles.
Anyone know what you draft if you have both rifles and grenadiers? I dunno that I'm going to draft, mind you, but i'm thinking about it.
On his side: he got engineering and constitution - I think he bulbed constitution. Or maybe I missed that he got one of them earlier.
He then picked up representation - did he drop out of rep when I burned pyramids?

Drafting is only ever maces -> muskets -> rifles -> infantry -> mech inf. Grens aren't draftable.

thx.
Hard to pass up drafting, i have to say. I can get probably 2 rifles a turn with very little unhappy penalty (I don't have enough cities that I'm willing to draft from to get 3, i don't think)
of course, I can get to infantry pretty fast if I want and two pop drafts are less interesting. Plus, I'll have levee's in my best cities...
