The Quarterdeck - Turn Discussion Thread

thestick Wrote:Thanks, it struck me as humorous. Quoting Realms Beyond people was definitely a good idea.

I think that we grow one turn after the Quechua finishes. Wait, one turn until Quechua finishes, but three turns until growth?

Also, it seems pretty obvious that after we mine the Copper, we move our Workers onto the 1/3 chopped forest and chop it into an Axe/Spear.

yeah we have to grow it for emergency whip purposes - so what is it? quecha or monument? I think i can play the turn without deciding so i will do that.

Quecha in tortuga was 2t from finishing - growth 3t. If we feel safe, we can grow next turn instead, but it delays the Quecha 1t.

I moved both warriors together and executed the road with the forest worker and other worker moved atop the copper.

I say Grow Next Turn, then Worker. 2 Workers for 3 Cities isn't that good of a situation, and Tortuga doesn't have anything to grow onto.

ok so - next turn to grow, we need to switch back to the corn - this delays the quecha by 1t - it will finish and pop eot43.

Also next turn we will be whipping our settler in Barbados.
both workers road (copper worker directly, forest worker moves to the copper city square and roads it.

The key will be responding to what M3 does this turn. If they give us the chance, i think we should 2v1 on the warrior.

Do we have a name for copper city? perhaps... Ocracoke (the perfect geography for a pirate ambush)? Did someone mention Port Royale? (Kingston) Trinidad? I also like Nassau.

Of course we could just pick cities from Sid Meier's Pirates. Barbados and Tortuga are both there. 3/4 (not ocracoke) of the above suggestions are in too.

I am not too sure we should build the worker at Tortuga just yet. Are we confident that it is well defended with only 2 quechas? I think one more quecha is probably a safer option. Just in case green team comes at us with something before we are able to get an axe/spear down there.

Also, once we finish connecting the bronze, we will have two workers that wont be able to do much at the bronze city (its a fishing city at best, where we could build moao potentially). We should bring one worker back to tortuga and start improving that. Given we havent got pottery yet, growth will take a while so one worker should be enough. Also should let tortuga grow so we can emergency whip an axe/spear if needed as well.

worst they can bring for the next 10 turns is 3 warriors vs our 2 quechas.

(assuming we watch their build and make sure they follow through on the settler/worker they are building)

We will have the axe from Barbados down to Tortuga before we could complete a third Quechua there so I don't think that is a good build. For worker build, working the corn and forest (after growth) we will get 5 food/hammers so 12 turns. We'll be getting pottery in about that same time frame and that's also about the time we'll be able to improve tiles so I think that worker is ok for Tortuga. On the other hand, growing to size 4 would allow us to immediately whip the terrace when pottery comes in.

RE 2v1 if opportunity arises: I cannot give a complete opinion until I see what M3 does with both warriors, but if warrior X moves NE to the hill that D just vacated we need to move our Q's NE because attacking would allow X to cut us off. If X stays fortified on forested hill then 2v1 might be an option if it's offered.

Growing to Size 4 in Tortuga doesn't seem good without any improved tiles. Wait, we're going Pottery over Fishing?

I have no clue what kind of pirate city names are good.

Here is the situation. I assume we have to move NE, but if we get some confirmation here before gillete plays, we can do a quick turn.

Here is the plan for units:
worker moves to copper city-site tile and roads.
worker roads on top of copper
2 Qs move NE
Tortuga switches to Corn to grow this turn (then will complete Quecha and eot43)
Barbados whips settler
