It's always nice to read about completely peaceful victories on the higher levels. Nicely done.

Quote:625BC: Oracle completed, mathematics researched, took civil service from Oracle.
Thats quite a gambit lol

Quote:25AD: got the health event where you use your citizens to test medicine. This is awesomeness, as health is the real limitation on this map. Happiness you can deal with using monarchy, then slider.
And that is just plain lucky smile

Comparing the diplomatic differences is interesting (I'll post my game in ~7 hours or so).

How did you think the AI's dealt with the map? I think the BtS AI really struggles with tight cap space (unlike warlords where they received plenty of free +happy and +health).

Well done, and I have to tell you that your game wasn't so unusual. smile I did the same thing - start with the Great Wall, then the Oracle, and play peacefully the whole way to a cultural victory. I won a bit earlier, mostly thanks to Civilized Jewelers (you don't seem to mention any corporations), but we aren't scoring by finish date in this one. smile

Yes, the Oracle seemed to go quite late - I got it in 800 BC. I'll have to go back and examine the AI start locations more closely. I remember Washington in particular was on a pair of lakes with almost no hammer-producing land tiles.

I totally forgot to mention in my report that I stuck with only SIX cities for the whole game. I thought it was obvious, until I've read the reports of others. It just somehow didn't register at all that with the available food resources, I could settle the tundra too, rather than let Justinian have 20 cities. If I did, I would have had so much more commerce and I would definitely have went forth and won in much more style, whatever victory that would have been. The way I played it, I pretty much eeked out an existance amongst all the much bigger, more powerful and more advanced enemies.

Right before victory, Pericles had NINE times my GNP... even the second lowest GNP was 3 times of mine...
