I might have adjusted EPs - be sure to check. We have M3's graphs- we could spend EPs on the trolls (plako).

waterbat Wrote:As predicted, the other M3 warrior showed up south of Tortuga this turn. I think we might want to move one of our Quechas to the forest SW of Tortuga to deny the tile to him.

Near Barbados - he moved to the forest SW of the city. I think we might want to move one of our Quechas N onto the road. He won't see it, and might be baited into moving onto one of the farms. The other option is to move one of the quechas onto a farm tile this turn. The simpler, third option is to pack the capitol with both of them (making 3 units in there)

Occupying forest SW of Tortuga sounds ok to me. On Q is enough to defend against a single warrior.

If he moves onto any of the farms it will be the Floodplain E of Barbados, where we would be attacking across the river.

I haven't quite decided what I would do here. I think I would move both Q's in the field NE into Barbados, and move the Q we just built 1E onto the floodplains so we can keep working the tile and to prevent pillaging. When we attack 2v1 (in 2 turns, assuming M3 continues to advance) we can return that Q back to Barbados if we get unlucky on the combat. Leaving all three Q's in Barbados this turn would mean we loose both our FP farm and cow pasture.

Could someone post a screenshot? A picture helps in catching potential problems with maneuvering and my last shot is from 2 turns ago. I'm behind university firewall for several more hours so I can't log in.

[STRIKE]Don't move the Q's yet please! Looking at the last screenshot I have I found a potential problem with the movements I suggested.[/STRIKE] I think I found a better placement for our Q's that avoids pillaging until we get our Axe, but I want to see it first. In about an hour I'll be able to log in.

[EDIT] thanks to M3's movement I'm pretty sure we're all safe at Barbados now.

Ok, I misunderstood waterbat's description of M3 warrior moves, just assuming M3 had followed my prediction. After looking in game I still think that the correct move is to put one Q on our Floodplain farm and the other two in Barbados. I was worried that M3 could get both warriors stacked on our road W of Barbados, but since M3 moved X SE (instead of E) this is no longer possible.

@Tortuga ... Since Tortuga is bordered by two forests I don't think that moving our Q out of the city is beneficial. It would not slow and Axe down at all, and we can still work the unoccupied forest. Might as well keep it and build up fortify bonus.

Unless an Axe appears south of Tortuga in the next 3-4 turns I think I can say "congratulations we've repelled the boarders" ... But we still lost 15 turns of improvements at Tortuga and were forced to settle a sub-optimal 3rd city cry

I don't think we're in the clear yet, after all we need to walk the Axe to Tortuga. Plus if they went for Chariots instead we're dead meat.

1 Quechua 1E and 2 Quechuas in Barbados? Sounds nice, protect the Farms. Them heading for the Cows would probably just buy us enough time for Axes.

Let's see, T46 they can have both Warriors 1S of Barbados, and T47 they can have them on the Road. If they move their southern Warrior 1NE should we try to take the forested Warrior out?

Random conspiracy: what if they aren't actually planning on attacking us? Then they'd hope for us to think that they're attacking us, and they would have stunted our growth for the cost of two Warriors.

I say we take the axe and pay them a little visit and stunt their growth in turn.

This is the my first opportunity for a while to really look around in game, and I notice a few interesting things, but first this turn.

1) I already completed the mine, switched the build at Barbados to an Axe, and made sure that the forest will get chopped into Barbados (founding Port Royal automatically stole that tile but I restored it to Barbados).

2) Military. M3 is walking around aimlessly on defensive tiles near Barbados. I propose we occupy the forest to the SE one Q, leave one on the FP farm and one in Barbados, and then let them sit unless M3 gives us an opportunity to kill.

3) We put a turn into fishing last turn. I was in favor of pottery first, but with fishing first we won't have pottery for about 15 more turns (pottery takes 10). Until then we will basically just have workers, settlers, and military as build options.

Now some things I found interesting:

M3 completes Stonehenge this turn...

TEAM is at war with both Gillette and Tropical Trolls???

Is it possible to return the favor to M3?
Not saying that this is the best play, but it's at least open to us. Since we will not be getting terraces for 15 turns along the fishing tech path we could build out another axe & spear to choke Animal Farm. We'd be safe walking through forests (pillaging the road along the way).

Do you think we could we get the Foreign Relations department working on getting a screenshot from TEAM of the area around Animal farm? I know we have one from earlier (like T25 or something) but with a current shot we could check to confirm that there is not another source of copper in the M3 backline in addition to the three we can see on our map.

I favour building a spear next and take that down with the axe and do some pillaging. If we can pillage a bit of their resources especially horse and copper we have a chance to put them on the back foot.

Since m3 have built Stonehenge they were clearly having a phoney war. But we will be ahead in military soon and what better time to assert our dominance when we can't build infrastructure.

I think if we can build two axes and two spears in the next 15 turns that should be sufficient military to cripple m3.
