Read about it in Commodore's thread obviously, but didn't want to post anything here until you had first. Wow, that sucks. My condolences.

Hah, thanks, though I think I'll pass on the children thing. I actually glanced at this save first thing Friday morning, and after about 4.2 seconds I closed it and did not open the save or this thread for 2 1/2 days . So I did know what had happened... Just wanted to enjoy my weekend before being annoyed at my mistake.
I don't mind getting beaten badly due to skill & effort deficits (PBEM39) or even by the map generator (PB5), but I DO mind beating myself.

I think gloomy is ok - emotions are part of gaming and we all know how it feels to have something like this happen.
On the one hand, we feel bad for, on the other hand, we are happy for Commodore.
For what it's worth - I dunno that this game is over. Presuming that you and pindicator both start pressing Commodore the way they pressed you... maybe he'll make a mistake, too.
This has been a great game to lurk (which is sad, since I was in it!!)

I think this one has given me a new appreciation (if that's the right word) for your PB1 loss.

Oh it's over. Seriously - I was getting 1,100 bpt at 100% just 10 turns ago, I'm getting 450 now. I lost my Heroic Epic city too. Commodore now rails and machine guns everywhere. It's just not possible to invade against Rails on this kind of map. By the time I have tanks, Commodore will have Modern Armor. It's done, and don't let him tell you otherwise over in his thread.

FYI reporting is done, I'll just keep passing turns.
I will fault myself for one crucial strategic mistake. When I got the GEs, I decided to push towards Assembly Line for an early Pentagon, Factories, Infantry. When Commodore knew what I was doing, he went into full assault mode. If I had instead played it safe and beelined rails and set up the MG + rail defense (and got Cannons sooner), I probably would have been fine. I knew the risk I was taking, but yeah, not worth it. I'm sure there are other things, but that was the key mistake of the game.

I don't think so? I just lost my 3rd city in 3 turns. I'm pretty much just queuing cavs, building rails, and hitting enter.

Hah, sorry, I know when I'm beat. It was fun while it lasted though.
