Turns progressing as dull as usual, my combat 1 still seems intact. The eastern warrior is about to swing back to home, he's found plains hill silver, plains sheep, and plains. Asterix's border pop revealed cows and a plains hill which means if copper or horse is in that vector my first city will probably go north.

Meanwhile, the deep exploration of the west continues as I find gold and dry wheat. Lovely!

Quote:So, we're played quite a bit and are finally back up to speed. You might have noticed by fog reading, but a mirror point is evident on turn 2, meaning my north looks like someone else's east.

If further confirmation were needed, Turn 3 shows us how it looks to our own east. Where the warrior is standing right now would be a decent border city if I could reliably secure second-ring borders.

Now then, Murphy's Law says that whichever way I most want to expand will be owned by Team Terrace/Creative...

Quote:Further exploration reveals the map a bit more, that's some nice salty water down there.

And, um...okay, new plan. TAKE ALL THE ISLANDS, GLH, COLOSSUS, SIRIAN TO VICTORY.

Also, wearing Carthagianian orange, it's Slow's Chinese. Sigh, Pericle again, wel wat can i do? I like the spot the warrior is standing on for a city.

Quote:Given thus far it's been a perfect mirror, we're looking at a 6x6 sea with 4x2 islands, so 36-8=28 salty tiles, above the 20 minimum needed. No extra islands in the middle, but my bet is whales? Anyway, I have a new mission in this game:

'course, what actually happened is I got choked. I went down, saw Boldly:

...and he saw me...

Ugh. Okay, let us dance CHOKEBADA, THE FORBIDDEN DANCE:

And thus we've been dancing, first slow and dripping with tension:

Then seductive, offering passionate contact...

And now leading to an explosive climax...

Alas, no. Honestly, I just don't have much to say about this current chokefest. It's mildly annoying, but I'm not derailing PLAN: ALL THE ISLANDS to rush Boldly or anything. I am curious to see if Sian gets annoying in the NE, but eh. Let's see where copper shows up and make more concrete plans.

There are three disappointing things in this image. What are they?

The location of copper, the health of the quecha, and the location of the quecha?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Yup, more or less. My choke was broken, giving Boldly a shock Q, his choke is ongoing, and copper is in an awkward spot. Here's the "choked" city of Asterix. Corn will come online soon, and then I'll grab the deer hill to mine it, so no worries there. Been slowed down a little bit, but nothing terribly bad.

Planning! I'm totally going to make it my quest to own the islands, get the GLH and Colossus, and rock it. As you can see above, the capital is going to be most excellent for chops and hammer-production. A chop plus both mines is 33 hammers into a wonder, so 3 turns+chop each turn +1 overflow nets me Oracle, and Stonehenge can be easily 2-turned if I can finagle 10 base hammers into beforehand, or 1-turned with careful overflow management. I think we're going to have some Prophet Wonders, folks.

Metal Casing is the main goal here, triremes would lock down the sea. Moai, Colossus, and GLH will be all enabled by that path. Survival means...meh, need to settle suboptimal copper.

I actually see a 4th disappointing thing. It's that part where you're playing France and not Byzantium.
