I doubt we'll get a merchant from the colossus. We need a GP and GS first and GSes are probably better anyway.

True, but we also don't have a city (yet) that we could build Colossus in. #4 could, given our current plan, but it would be several turns until we even start the build (after a couple WBs and likely a granary) and this would be long enough down the road that the GP from Oracle and a forced GS from a library could already have been completed by the time the merchant points accrued for the 3rd GP. Most likely, we would end up forcing a potpourri mix of GP to even get it born from this city, I think. Too far out ahead for me to think in precise terms out of game.

This might be a crazy idea, but what about using the oracle for mathematics? I know it's super cheap compared to metal casting, but it would be helpful immediately for more chop hammers, and it would get us currency, calendar, and the HG all faster.

So here is my first minor contribution:
I believe that if we pick mathematics, "hammers-to-beakers" conversion rate is so weak that we are significantly better off by using those hammers for expansion. The denial value, culture and GPP points are of course nice, but still.
I guess we even get an acceptable pre-req bonus for maths (?) so that we need only several turns for teching it.

Actually, what about not math but currency? It's only very slightly less beakers than MC but I would give us a bigger boost I think. Between HR and Currency we'd be able to expand at a rate that no other team could keep up with without crashing their economy. The downside is we have to wait a bit longer to build the Oracle while we research mathematics, but we could always get it close to completion and then let our C&D department tell us whether to cash it in for say MC or wait while we finish off mathematics.

This was a very uneventful turn for us, but that's good news in Stonehenge-land. Three more turns to go, and the wonder remains unbuilt.
The barb in the northeast moved back into the jungle, the borders at Mansa's Muse popped, and... ummm... that was pretty much it. Our workers began their chopping operations too, I guess. Quiet turn.
Here are beginning of turn Demographics. CivFanatics planted their third city (Mantra) right at the end of the previous turn. We'll be able to see it in the Food/Production numbers next turn. I have research on Fishing tech (2t), with the intention of overflowing into Priesthood (2t) after that. The enemy team score increases were mostly Land points, with a new tech from CivFanatics and the German team.
A lot of good discussion here about potential Oracle targets (Feudalism, Mathematics, Currency) but I would argue that all of them are worst options than Metal Casting. If we are looking to slingshot something, that one feels like the strongest option by a wide margin. Forges + OR civic make for an amazing combination.

I agree that we should consider Oracle>MC. Tech is so important in this game and that's a huge beaker load + colossus even not considering forges. I also think we'll be okay militarily considering diplo and these distances. I know I'm not adding much to the convo here but wanted to voice my support.

Only good to get our infrastructure up, and since we're going wide and whipping, I don't think Forges and OR are particularly useful.

How so? OR discounts forges so that the return on investment is comparatively better/faster.
OR saves 24 base hammers on a forge, which allows us to whip it earlier in smaller cities. (120/1.25=96) A 2 pop whip can be done with 40% fewer hammers invested(36 vs 60).
+50% vs +25% means we get a bonus on every 2nd hammer, rather than every 4th hammer, so it's easier to avoid seeing the bonus rounded down.
