Nah, the CR is good, but if it gets that far, in order to build it, one probably has to delay industrialization, making it a not necessarily automatic build, imo.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

One thing that was mentioned in the initial post that we still haven't figured out is what starting unit ( Scout / Warrior) to start with.

Though one question for that would be if the starts are at least similar enough to make that a fair question. i.e. if I have a Deer or Furs but nobody else does, then that might change opinions. Though I suppose that also includes the +1point for Agriculture starts in our pick method - unless everyone either has a grain at the start or does not have a grain, it's not quite fair.

Commodore can we get clarification if the starts are at least similar in the types of resources that are there? Or at least a clarification that we're not going to get any further clarification?

Also can you give us all the map info that you're going to give (size, difficulty, wrap, anything else), so everyone has the same info before picking, as well as if any start pics have changed.

Starts are not identical, but are similar, with types of resources the same in each case. I showed a scout with each person's start because it's an easy way for me to remember to change it out, I'm defaulting to the standard warrior unless Hunting setup.

Map:
Toroid
Prince
Fog-tiles will have changed around, and you'll have deciduous or pines changed maybe, but revealed tiles are static.

Thanks Commodore. What does everyone think about starting with a scout and a warrior?

Also is it small / standard / other / not going to say?

I'm assuming it's got to be small with 5 players.

Is there anything else that we're missing before I start the picks? Not rushing it as I'm not quiiite ready (but close), just checking.

Small size.
