Three comments ...
- well done all! - I can think of no way to hide our point lead - lets go for it - Stonehenge center'd the map - any info we can glean from that?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Its a torus map with infinitesimal small curvature. Everybody can claim to be the center of the world. :D

Awesome!
I have now read every single thread here (even the rules setting discussions as I was already interested back then) and I have to say, this performance is extremely extremely impressive. Since I have not contributed to these plans I do not even have to be modest when I say that we have definitely put us into a leading position. Micro plans, C&D, diplo, general turn discussions.. Everything has been done with perfection and that makes me proud to be part of this team! If we can maintain the quality of the work I think we are developing us into a gigantic dogpile target. But that is of course exactly what we want to be Let's keep fingers crossed for the Oracle. With 9 teams aboard it is completely possible that someone will finish that before t68, but that would not be a catastrophe either. At that point we are hopefully one Oracle ahead of everyone in beakers anyways! (Are we considering Oracling something else if we see Meditation falling soon?) Btw, I have enjoyed the recorded micro simulations and the T40 state of the world analysis. Maybe Sullla has time to create something similar for T60?
@Sullla: So... did we get the Stonehenge?
Great job! Regarding the dogpile, here's an argument to keep on the back of our minds to tell people someday: our GNP may be high, but it's mostly culture, don't worry Fintourist raised a good point: if we see Meditation and Buddhism falling, do we make a run for the Oracle and try to get MC? I am tempted to say yes and chop it in FP. What do other people think? Kalin (October 24th, 2012, 09:16)kalin Wrote: @Sullla: So... did we get the Stonehenge? IMO, yes. Free beakers that we can deny to all the other teams is a good thing. I don't see this delaying our expansion much, just the cost of a few forests that we won't chop for the next dozen turns anyway.
Despite being someone who argued in favor of Metal Casting earlier, I'm less inclined to go for it now. Since we're on T55 and we haven't even seen Meditation fall, I think we're reasonably safe to pursue our Oracle -> Currency slingshot. I don't think any other teams have Polytheism yet, and we know no one has Meditation. That means that a team in competition for the Oracle must research two techs and then still build the Oracle itself (150 production) on a map with no marble anywhere near our start (and therefore probably not near anyone's start) and no competing Industrious civs. Can another team really research two techs and line up all that production in the next 13 turns? Yes, it could happen, but I'm not too terribly worried about it. If Stonehenge was still sitting around on T55 - despite five different teams starting with Mysticism tech! - then Oracle will likely still be there on T68.
