Damn, damn.. I was hoping for no news.

How much harm can this quecha cause us? Although in a diplo game like this it is unlikely that there will be any aggression.

If Civplayers now beeline the Oracle, they will get that. However, since they do not have maths they will have to put a lot of resources into build. I guess they have BW? (I just quickly checked t40 situation and at that point they did not have it).

I repeat what everyone else is saying. Let's stick to the plan and if we can't get the oracle, then it's not end of the world. We will definitely find use for those hammers/fail gold.

Also: what's our assessment of their in-game situation? What techs do they have, how much pop, and how long did it take them to get Meditation?

As the Aztecs, they might be on a Code of Laws beeline for their Sacrificial Altars, in which case they need to research Priesthood and Writing if they are to Oracle Code of Laws. (This is provided they researched AH on T51, but they might have Writing already.)

However, they still are missing BW, so they will be forced to slow-build the Oracle. Estimate four turns to research Priesthood, and they will have 9t to beat us to the Oracle with mines only, ie circa 16 hpt. Probably doable in their capital, but they will still need Writing, and if they don't have AH they have fewer hammers available.

Given this, I guess we continue our Oracle run.
I have to run.

Known techs:

Hunting, Mining, Mysticism, Agriculture, The Wheel, Meditation (T56), Pottery (tentative, T43), Animal Husbandry (tentative, T51). They might have Writing instead of Animal Husbandry, but they do not have have Bronze Working.

Cities of size 5 (capital), 4, and 2. Estimated max hammers in their capital of 17 (PH city tile, deer, cow, 2 grass mines, 2 forested hills), if they can reach size 6. Their capital has been at size 5 forever, so might grow to 6 very quickly using corn and deer.

They researched Meditation in 5t, meaning a raw commerce of at least 25, and I estimate they will need 4t to research Priesthood. However, a tile configuration like the above will likely slow down their research on Writing, and if they have Writing the hammer estimate drops to 15 or 16.

I would guess they teched Meditation for the religion and not for an Oracle run. They'll probably get Bronze Working next and then Priesthood if Oracle is still available.
I have to run.

Yes, I also think they might have gone for the religion. Maybe even got beat to Hinduism by a small margin and then decided to grab Buddhism at all costs.

Gut feeling is, to continue our Oracle plan.

I agree. If this were a regular game and I were in their position, it wouldn't even cross my mind that Oracle might still be available by the time I got round to building it. I would be very surprised if they throw everything into an Oracle push.

The Quecha is zero risk, surely they know if they try to choke us this late we just splat it with an axe.

I want to be friendly with the Germans. As one of the non-English teams, they're not going to have an easy time leading a coalition against us.

Civplayers are The League, they're PAL Mk 2, their micro should be decent. Hence, monitor them carefully smile

Since we got Stonehenge, the map is now centered, so for those who want to get a sense of the scale of the amount of land we have to conquer:
