1. I suggest a double round robin, because it is the fairest format. You play everyone twice: once with white once with black.
2. Correspondence format is a must IMHO because of timezones and different schedules like Sian said. One little problem is that chess.com only allows time per move and no additional total time control for all moves. Can we do the minimum 1 move per day or do we need 2? There is also the possibility to claim up to 7 days of vacation on chess.com which basically stops your clock in case any player can't access a computer for a few days.
3. We need a tournament director who organizes all the results and acts as a referee. Waterbat has come forward for that job.
4. General correspondence chess rules are: books and databases are ok, engine generated moves are not.
5. I strongly believe we should start very soon (i.e. no later than this weekend). If we take much longer people might lose interest so we should just get going.
Is that acceptable or do we need changes?
