I don't think my position is too bad against him.

EDIT: Especially that game with Jkaen you just had w/ the King's Indian that I just looked at.

Annotating took a lot longer than expected and had some problems with the Chessbase layout function, but you can download my game against Jkaen here:

Please note that I am by no means an expert. The game is checked with Fritz 13 and the Chessbase Powerbook, but you should consider my comments as the simple subjective view of a casual amateur. smile

I highly doubt it. I was very lucky so far: Jkaen overlooked a hanging pawn which cost him the endgame in a drawn position, Sian lost one game in a favourable position only because he missed a mate in one and Pindicator is a very strong player (I checked his finished games ). Kuro and other players still have a perfectly playable position, so I very likely will lose some points before the tournament is over.

I have been following this along - I almost signed up a few times but didn't feel that I was good enough to play, but if we have another one I think I'd like to play

I'm doing better than I thought for not playing in a long time, but I think Gustaran is a favorite to win. For one, he seems to know his openings and I don't smile

There is a bit of an openings book on the website itself. Doesnt go into strengths weaknesses etc of each opening, but does show what common responses to the first 5 or so moves are.

What's an opening? lol

Sorry for the slow start from me, I've been sick all week with what I think might have been bronchitis. Whatever it was, I think I'm feeling better and should be able to pick game pace back up soon.

My opening theory is quite poor too. I tend to try and stick to the few I know some of, at least(Hence all that Alapin!).

No problem on the slow start. Plenty of time for ze games.

@ Gustaran: The annotations are an enjoyable read. Fairly informative too, even if you are a "casual amateur". Any chance we can see one of the Sian game or, when it's done, maybe even our game? I think the position in our game is veeeeeery interesting...

Interesting read on our game. yes the hanging pawn was a mistake, as was the mental logic that delayed the bishop exchange (I thought my way would also help develop my queen, completely forgetting it also cost me a pawn)

Dammit, no book on the Benoni. Why didn't I stick with the Benoni?
