while looking close to an upset i think i might have the long end of the stick now in my game against Jkaen ... i managed to get a fork on his two rooks with my bishop, to it turned from a 2Rooks 4pawns vs RookBishop 3pawns to Rook 3pawns vs. RookBishop1pawn

Congratulations! It was correct not to take the draw, because I just checked the PGN and black had a mate in 5 after your move 33.Qxe6. wink
Also what was your plan after 41...Kc6 ?
42. Qa8+ Kb5 43. Qxa7 Qd3+ 44. Kg2 Qe2+ 45. Kg1 and if an attempt at Threefold is made, Bf1 while the King is on g1, leading to either Qc5+ Ka6 f5(Rf6 meets Qxd5, threatening Qxc4+, protecting the f5 pawn and threatening to force the King into an unenviable position with Qa8+ Kb6 Kd8+ either wins the Rook if it has not moved or chases the King. Ka6 is met with Kc8+ Kb6 Qb7+ and overall a good position). If not, for example 45. Rh6, 46. Qc5+ Ka6 Qa3+ Kb5 Bd7+ Kb6 Qc5+ Kb7 Qc8+ or something. I honestly forgot what line I had studied for Kc6.

Also, they did? I thought I was able to styme mating attacks after Qxe6 via Kg1...do you have the line?

EDIT: lol, I think that escape line was using the Rook and I had a different thing for the Queen which looking at the board doesn't work. Welp.

a) I think you calculate too far too quickly. What if 42. Qa8+ Kb6 ?

b) The mate is
33. Qxe6 Qxf2+
34. Kh1 Qf3+
35. Bg2 Qd1+ (35. Kg1 Qd1+ as well)

followed by mate

Looks interesting, my bet would be a draw. smile

That's probably because I couldn't fully remember my Kc6 stuff and it was 5 AM, heh. I probably do calculate a bit too quickly, though? When I really try to calculate I take about 20 minutes or so, I think?

Yeah, i blundered early vs Gustaran and it may cost me the game. Still too early to tell but its pretty easy to say whose position is better

I think even without the blunder my position after the opening was favourable. You were out of the opening book around move 7, and that's usually not a good sign. My books say that an early c5 by black only makes sense when you want to enter Benoni lines and if that's the case the correct line would have included an early e6 followed by exd5 and not e5. In the King's Indian I found only three variations where c5 is good: The Saemisch variation where white plays f3 or the Averbakh and Smylov variations with an early development of White's dark squared bishop to g5 - neither one is the case in our game. As a result you were missing the Benoni counterplay on the queenside with b5 but also lacked the King's Indian counterplay with e5 and f5.

(after all this yada yada yada I will probably blunder and lose the endgame lol )

Yeah, my blunder was thinking i could do e5 and f5 but forgetting that my bishop on d7 meant the d6 pawn was hanging when you took en passant.
Anyway, the endgame seems a draw so far with opposite colored bishops, but you have the extra pawn so i understand if you want to continue.

Wish the site was up...

I always decline draw offers (unless my position is worse of course) and play my games to the end. If the endgame is a theoretical draw my opponent should be able to show me. hammer

Site is back up, btw.
