Thanks for hosting it, Sullla! Events optional, eh? Does this mean we can turn them on and off periodically throughout the game?

For instance: Early events can be game-changing (see my mining event in Imperium 12) but especially in a large galaxy, their effects (good or bad) are less overwhelming later in the game. Thus, I might consider turning events off until ~2400, but then turning them on again for spice later on, if this is permitted.

Also for instance: Those who intend to turn events off might accidentally forget to do so for a session in the middle someplace. I assume this is not a problem, but I supposed I should ask.

Or even a strategic use: During a period of intensely-planned, coordinated action, some players who otherwise have events on might wish to turn them off to reduce the element of chance.

Since the game is unscored, it doesn't really matter what you do in terms of having events on or off. The option is entirely up to you; you can fire and forget, or try to min/max as the situation dictates. Whatever makes you happy.
