Serdoa, you made me very puzzled for a second there. 1800BC is the current turn. plako said 1880BC and it looks like Space made a typo repeating it and that stuck.
Game reloaded to the start of 1880BC. Keep in mind guys that I try to check this thread at least daily, but I'm unlikely to take action if there's still active debate about what to do. If there's a call to reload but then a dozen posts debating the decision I'll usually wait for the debate to cease before switching saves.
Let me know if you have a consensus on a timer extension.
a) Timer will be extended to 66h over the Christmas period (see c) as well) - yes / no
b) The Christmas period is from the 21st (this Friday) till the 6th of January - yes / no
c) In case of someone not having played the turn, if there are less than 8 hours on the timer, the game will be paused - yes / no
d) In case of more votes down the line, all of them will be binding for all players if more than 50% of the still alive and active players (one vote per civ) vote yes for it - yes / no
Wouldn't it be easier to just pause the game Dec 21 thru Jan 6? I can't speak for Nakor but at least for me, if I am playing Civ, I prefer to focus...quick turn around makes the game more entertaining. I don't mind a holiday pause...time to focus on family and such. Seems like it would be a pain to check every day to see if the turn has rolled over, and possibly not play the turn until days later...distracting to say the least. If we don't pause the game, a-d yes.

For me personally, not yet representative of my team's vote: Yes, Yes, Yes, and I'd prefer more than just a simple majority, but can live with Yes.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
A: yes
B: yes
C: yes
D: no -- we don't even know what we're voting for by agreeing now to a simple majority. not that we have game rules, but something of that caliber would probably require some kind of super majority or unanimity, or something. I think this can be case by case as needed -- we'll collectively develop a sensible voting protocol if needed for any particular question. It would have to be something unusual to not require a simple majority most of the time, though.
Alternative suggestion: I can dictate a response to all proposals and no one gets to vote. I am, after all, a tyrant. I vote YES to that suggestion.
