yes.
something else occured to me. azza has 5 cities, serdoa has 2. serdoa has been building up his power too. do you think serdoa will join in the dogpile on azza? I think it would be to our benefit. with his help we could possibly eliminate azza, which would give us both plenty of room to expand for a long time. not sure how to communicate that to serdoa with no diplo tho.

hmm - it does look like a gain of a copper (5k-ish) unit 3t after he got IW.
that said, i'd put it much more likely that he either a) couldnt find copper either, so he was grabbing IW in a bid for metal OR he planned on praet-rushing anyway so was beelining IW and may have not even hooked copper up yet.
Keep the workers! we're taking a net gain of 240 hammers vs Azza. (this is normal speed and workers are 60, right?) vs. deleting them means we've only netted 120 vs. him.
also - i guess i am in favor of pushing to the capitol. That size 1 undefendable city will be no threat for some time, whereas every turn the capitol represents another whip he can perform.

Azza's capitol appears to be 4s of our chariot. if not his capitol, another city there that is pushing culture.
EDIT: 99% sure that his capitol is there.
if he reacts by emptying it, that unit(s) should be 2s of BoT on our next turn.

ok. it has occured to me that a likely explanation for the warriors is that he had copper in his BFC, is mining it (hence high MFG) but chose not to connect it, preferring cheap warriors and not expecting to be attacked so early.
maybe we can get real lucky and take his capital. Im not expecting it, though - but we can hopefully raze a few things before we see spears. even if we just raze a border city (or two) and greatly delay his iron hookup that will be a great win. it will allow us to get iron working and pump out some axes before he can get iron hooked up .
fun fact: if we manage to get the workers to safety, we will have 6 workers and 3 cities
oh well, we won't need to build any for awhile, and our cities will be nicely developed with more roads than we could otherwise afford to build .

Could be he didn't have any roads to connect it because he didn't have the wheel?

maybe. but he has the wheel now. why make that strange road to nowhere south of birds of tokyo and not connect his copper in time to get an axe up to defend birds, an important strategic city for him?

His workers were on the rice when the city was built. They built the road as the moved to the iron. Its possible he got over eager for the Iron and settled before he should have.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has <= 6 warriors to his whole military. He has nothing!
Despite his high MFG, take a look at this power graph for the last 50 turns (t12 - t62?):
where do you fit military in?
worse case, in the last 50 turns, he has built:
3 warriors and 1 spearman
or
5 warriors (+ his original) - oh! rbmod is all scout starts, right? he probably fit one in before t12 though - so I'll give him 6 max.

ok, this seems likely.
waterbat, you make me happy. I hope you are right
we'll find out soon enough if he can produce metal units. he has high MFG and a level 6 capital he can whip into the ground, so we'll see if we see chariots, spears, or just more warriors <G>.

well, i suppose he could have 1- or 2-whipped on a turn or two where he built warriors, disguising them as 1k advances in power.
EDIT: hey, i remembered to logout!
