Yeah alot of us did. I (and some others) erronously assumed the first time we did this that the Spawns pushed our defenses over the edge. This was never really the case- it was the changes in positioning in response to the spawns that did us in. As we saw and according to wki, the spawns are actually really small. There's only two waves of them, meaning we could even ignore them sans monks, albeit a "large number of enemies" spawn when Mallyx is killed and I'm not sure how we would manage then.
Based on that, I think the safest adjustment is to, like I said, stick as much damage as possible on ranged characters, and any melee will just keep mallyx pinned. The rangers will have the job of killing spawns as they arrive, which are random according to wiki. If something obnoxious like a monk spawns, then we have to wait until it moves to wanding range: if another target is attacked, the monk may just hang back out of range and heal. If QZ gets put up far enough away, then there's nothing we can do about it either. (ouch?) There is a benefit on that point of fighting down the hall by the door, even though the spawns should eventually make their way down to us, the enemy ranger should cast QZ when it spawns (well out of our range) before moving on to attack us. We would need a 100% available interrupt solution though as we can't go running back to eat Mallyx spirits.
Warriors could maintain adrenaline defenses with minimal damage by bringing a starter sword or something, though I'm not sure that kind of defense is even the best strategy anymore. I want to follow WB's suggestion to take Halloween "off" and enjoy the festivities this week. More time to bang heads on a good solution.

Any thoughts on whether people want to bash heads with this again?
Because I'm lazy I'm inclined to try this strategy instead of a whole new build:
-Blow up Mallyx's spirts
-Lure him down the hall towards the door
-Attack with starter weapons until xyn gives us the signal that he's "stuck"
-Switch to full weapons and damage him ASAP
-Ignore the small spawns coming down the hall, except for monk or maybe hexer: Stunning Spear warrior can shut one down.
-When mallyx dies, wipe any spawns we are currently facing ASAP to prepare for the new ones en route.
-Pray our excessive defense is enough. (the pre-mallyx waves were really easy)
Because we'd be fighting away from the spirits, that means Unyielding Anguish has to be interrupted every time. Which in turn means Zed would have to time putting up preperations/spirit for just after an interrupt.

Addition: We can make sure we don't trip the spawns if we can pressure Mallyx into self heals with a condition.
Oh, one other thing that I keep meaning to mention: It looks like I'm stuck on that particular day for the next two weekends at least. ![[Image: banghead.gif]](http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif) The people leaving the job at work have reached epidemic proportions so there is only me left to cover 14 shifts now, plus whoever we can drag in from the other three sites in the city to fill the 9 I can't realistically do. The Realms Beyond Weekly Arse Kickage Day just happens to be the most difficult day of the week to arrange cover for, so I'm getting stuck with one of the two shifts that day.
The good news is a returning projectionist from last year is coming back to the fold for a one-day-per-week gig right on that day of the week, so I have my fingers crossed for this crap being a temporary situation.
The bad news is I might spontaneously combust from pent up annoyance, but I'll cross that hurdle when I come to it.

I may or may not be around Saturday evening. There's a possibility of me getting on after 10, but I'm not sure how far after that I'd be.

So, waiting for the big update we go for a relatively quick Deep run (between deciding what to do, building and pwning three hours).
Want to repeat it HM! This Saturday! So we get the fat lootz who's up for it? We can start putting up a build this time so hopefully we can cut a bit on the time. I was running:
SS Barbs MoP EnfBlood Necrosis EVAS RipEnch Gale
Was a bit low on energy at times but the BiP hero did well for me. SF ruined my day, could get big numbers only when Sousuke, Vekk and Zhed (or who was there anway) were distracted. Had to rely on interrupts to keep Kanaxai effectively out of his enchantment, rip alone was a pain due to the 50% fail on spells. The tactic we used might not be that great because I have the feeling the HM spawns will stomp us. Or we have a nice SY/TNTF
Next life I want to be a tank.

As long as nothing gets buffed, HM is pretty easy. Well except for the first room, that's always the fun part.
Things needed:
KD that is semi-spammable.... Kanaxi has a chance to resist knockdown.
Inspired enchtanment... as we learned Rip is really not sufficient.
Multiple sources of Party Healing
Someone to pull guys in that #!()@ aspect of fail room.
1x Rebirth or Unyielding Aura
1x Death Pact Signet, Signet of Return, or Unyielding Aura
For at least one room: 3-man tank, healer, AoE damager combo. Healer practically needs SoA/seed in addition to prot spirit. Shadow refuge needs to be overcome on the damage side. (Lol Chillblains?)
Things that would be nice:
Imbagon
Another TNTF
Spirit Spam if we can't get those
Weakness
Tank with blocking
Mass AoE
Battle Standard
Ward of Stability
Aegis
Never brought an MM, but there's plenty of bodies to exploit.
DP Removal
4x "Don't Trip" (would just be funny to sail through the scorpion effect. Hard to coordinate though.)
Weapon of can't be removed by anything ever
Physicals that don't care about the caster cate
Some energy boost. (The Power Is Yours. You know it.)
Lockpicks and inventory room
PS Bring your ranger and send him tanking if you want.

I missed something...jerks...
Anyways, I'll be on very randomly this week as I'm getting stuff done. Just post the times you guys are doing stuff and I'll see what I can do.

Don't worry. Three more days and you should have reason join in with my sniggering at their gun-jumping antics.
Ohh, it looks like I'll be on the night shift the day of the weekly gathering. If we can start early enough I should be able to jam in one shot at Mallyx...

Ok well enough lollygagging. Lets try again this sat 9ish. If we don't get our requisite group, then lets' head into the Deep for super faction. Deal?
