and Pindicator how is removing that card from the game and a potential Scum a bad idea or has fallacy? we are taking the bigger risk by leaving novice alive. He wanted to take the easy way and remove him + the card. I dont like how several of you are trying to paint him as the scum when I dont see any fallacy in that argument.

@pindi perhaps you are a bit slow or you skimmed too much or yoiu don't want to understand on purpose
so once agian for you : My reasoning: (January 4th, 2013, 09:58)Rowain Wrote: For me the lynch-result list reads this: Meanwhile I estimate the chances of Selrahc beeing scum high enough to risk him beeing 5/6 with my lynch-vote. Is that now clear enough and if not what do you want to know exactly?
Everyone is a potential scum.
I consider novice a less likely scum then most (including you/rowain) The card isn't as scary as your making it out to be. As someone (who?) said, rowain is playing not to lose.

I was sleeping Ryan. I live on the west coast of the US, so I'm unfortunately sleeping when most people are most active here.
But I already posted that, so please be careful in your reading. Well, you're mixing my terms there. First off I said the fallacy was Rowain painting today's outcomes as only being two-fold: he was arguing that we would either hit a random villager or remove the card by lynching novice. He's dismissing the possibility that we hit a snitch, so he's trying to color the argument in his favor. Second, I don't see why the card is such a big deal. If the person who has the card announces who they passed the card to then the person with the Ouija board can take that information into account when they see their scan results. If we have a conflict between two people as to who has the card, we likely have tripped up a wolf -- so I don't think scum will lie about that because it's high risk / low reward. I think they'd go along with the passing card. Or if they do lie and cover for a scum teammate then we can connect those two people after we've discovered that there were people lying.
I am still new to this in the end.. You guys are the vets but I just dont like this idea. Remove Novice + potential heart ache from that card and worry about the rest but oh well :P
I consider novice less likely to be 1/2/3 then I consider others to be 1/3,

I dont know how to add spoilers so forgive me. The guy with the Ouji Board will have to pass the item after one use. That means that it still has a chance of being given to the scum. I just dont want to waste its uses Espically with a card that adds so many chances. If we remove novice and get a 100% correct Ouji Board read wouldnt that be better? And I am sry about that accusation (January 5th, 2013, 14:12)Rowain Wrote: @pindi perhaps you are a bit slow or you skimmed too much or yoiu don't want to understand on purpose Ah, I did miss that post. Well, I disagree with your ranking the scum with card. We've played a couple games in a row now here with no scanner and we've been able to find scum just fine. I don't think we should use the Ouija as a crutch for our decision making anyway; what if that gets in the hands of scum later on? I find it better to hunt scum the old fashioned way: by what they post. Still waiting for you to do that, although that latching on to Serdoa's argument was a start. And you did call out Merovech for his post. And thanks for the name-calling, jackass.
Also we are not touching upon the people who barley posted anything this day. Ex Mattie... Isnt that wierd?

Below every post there's a 'Reply' button; you can use that to get the [ quote ] [ /quote ] tags around what that person wrote. Spoilers are [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] (But without the spaces) Like so: Yeah, I agree with you that there is a risk of the Ouija board falling into scum hands. But that is going to be part of the challenge of this game: taking what the Ouija board person says and weighing it against how trustworthy you think the Ouija board user is. If you don't find them trustworthy then don't put much weight to their result. Again, I think it's better to hunt based on what is posted. Look for alternative agendas in what people are posting. Look for people who aren't trying to hunt for the bad guys -- and they won't make this obvious, they will try to cover it up with random noise or by latching on to some other important issue. Don't just read what people are posting, ask yourself "Why are they writing this? What are the possible reasons?" In short, be skeptical of everything. And it's going to take a little time to find the rhythm of it; I was awful my first game. But you're asking lots of questions and that is a good start. Keep asking questions. |
