[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

so far not a fan of photobucket. I can't figure out how to upload pictures directly from my clipboard without using paint like I can on Imgur, which slows things down, and there's a friggin' video ad after every upload. ah well, it'll work when imgur is crapping out on me, like now.

part 3, research:

here you can see our plan to research every single ancient tech before advancing to the classical era is almost complete! Beelines are for amateurs.

Sailing completes in 4 turns at 90%. Lewwyn pointed out that priesthood would save us 20% on writing, monarchy, and COL (all critical techs for us), so that will be next. we can 2 turn it at 100%, so we will probably save up a bit of cash first to shoot through it and then writing. (I think we will revolt to judaism as soon as sailing is complete, and the galley whipped in the iliad a couple of turns later).
the possibility of temples if needed will be a nice bonus smile.

so writing next for sure. then, we can go math-calender-currency if we want to make a run at MoM. or, we can squeeze in monarchy at any point. we have wines, and HR will be so nice for the capital. we have 2 riverside cottages there we aren't able to work currently, 2 more that can be built, plus 2 currently worked by the Iliad that can be given back to the capital. Our capital will have tremendous potential once we have bureaucracy smile.

finally, I have a mea culpa.
while writing this report I had the only relevant unit that still had movement points highlighted, and I accidently right clicked on a spot and sent him moving frown. sorry for the fuck-up. he will take 2 turns to return to the Odyssey, which sucks.
Luckily diomedes is still in theodyssey for MP, so it won't screw up our micro this turn. next turn, I think, if the workers complete the road on the iron, then the injured chariot that is covering them can return to the Odyssey to heal and be MP for a turn, so that the fully healed diomedes can leave the city if needed, and Odysseus II can still start his scouting mission. so we'll have to be a bit creative to prevent unhappy in theOdyssey, but it shouldnt really hurt us any.

anyway sorry about that, I'll make sure the cursor is on a unit with no movement points left in the future while taking pictures, just in case.

ok, while typing that last post Nakor played their turn and it rolled, so that means more pictures for turn 76 wink.
as you can see, the western warrior attacked Azza and not us. Azza won and stole our experience. his warrior is at 1.0/2.
the eastern barb was likely influenced by my misclick, heading towards Hector the warrior instead of Beowulf.
diomedies, the C1 chariot inside the Odyssey has 89.6 odds on him in the forest. we can take those odds, or we can move Hector onto the hill there and hopefully bait the barb warrior onto open terrain for much better odds smile. then diomedes can just hold in place for a turn, so we don't need to shuffle back a different chariot for MP. so.... my mistake may have turned out to our benefit wink.

I put the chop in, the settler in the Odyssey is at 100/100 and the 6 foodhammers theOdyssey will produce will roll over into the spear next turn.

I'll post some graphs, they are somewhat interesting.
1. demos:
at 100% we are tied for #1 GNP. I think Serdoa is the current #1. he was 2 turns ago, anyway:
2. gnp graph
[Image: turn76gnp_zpsc41d9de4.png]
you can also from that graph that azza is beginning to recover his economy a bit. Serdoa as #1 makes sense. His GNP, like ours, is culture inflated, with the oracle and his own religion.
3. crop yield:
we are 8 out of 11 in crop yield, yet still ahead of azza AND Serdoa. Serdoa may be rival worst, or else he's 10th out of 11.
4. MFG:
it seems cities #3 and #4 were hammer cities for Serdoa, he has actually surpassed azza in MFG. part of that is due to the whip unhappy that azza has to recover from as a result of his war. I believe they are #1 and #2 in MFG, though. Its impossible for us to know how close their empires are in the south, but I'm hoping Serdoa uses this to gear up for a war against azza, or even against someone else down there. of course its more likely that Serdoa uses his IND trait to pop out a wonder. frown. surprisingly, pyramids is still out there. when we have the spears we need we should probably start building it in gilgamesh for failgold if it hasn't fallen yet.
5. Power graph:
nothing to see here.
6. top 5 cities. interesting movement here:
7. and finally, the espionage screen:

we've been gaining 1 point towards the "see research visibility" total for the past 20 turns or so. This means that unless Azza suddenly changes his EP distribution and puts all 4 points on us, we should gain research visibility on him next turn dance
Its interesting that we have enough EP points on him to steal a tech already. I'm not really sure what that tech could be. Its seems like the cost is too cheap for writing. If he had archery already surely we would have seen some archers during the war??? Does Azza have priesthood or meditation? That doesnt seem likely since he didn't grab any of the early religions and wasn't involved in the oracle chase (that we know of).

Any C&D experts able to educate me on how to ascertain what a tech is from its "steal tech" cost?

btw, we can still hit sailing in 3 turns now even if we turn research down to 80%. this is comforting, in case our new spears cause our unit cost maintenence to go up. so I was wrong about it being too tight, apprently :/.

The tech you could steal, could it be sailing?

oh. well that makes sense, azza has much less land than us and has been working seafood, so sailing would have been a bigger priority to him. also he was slower on the worker techs. it probably is sailing.

I guess we'll know for sure in 3 turns if the option to steal is gone wink.

By then there might be another tech to steal

well that depends how far down the writing-math line he's made it. I don't think he has priesthood, meditation, or archery, and after sailing we'll know all the other ancient techs wink.
edit: dur, I guess writing is an ancient tech too wink

Without CR promotions, they get no benefit attacking into cities.

Well I was only addressing the issue of how promotions work, not what Praets have themselves.

However, I thought sword units got an innate bonus to City Attack of 10%. Was that removed between BtS and RBMod?
