This all seems like its getting kinda complicated. Keep it as simple as possible IMO.

I think that my idea of AI Diplomacy for this game would be simply using the options on the diplo screen with no added text
But I think we should be able to type in 'declare war on' and 'stop trading with' as they are available options in SP.
BUT - as they cannot be enforced by the game, do we want to make it such that anyone who accepts it must follow through on it as if it were enforced by the game mechanics or not?
I think we must agree on this before the start of the game as two differing interpretations of this could cause major arguments in game.

limited diplo isnt really possible - see pbem37. i thought of making a web interface that would lock down the messages that could be sent from team-to-team to try to accomplish this. but if you try to do limited diplo, teams will end up playing completely different games.
it does suck there is no good way to coordinate attacks.

In terms of ruleset, I believe this is the final set up:
Tech Trading - On along with No Tech Brokering
Espionage - On but no civic/religion swaps
Diplomacy - AI Diplomacy
RB Mod - No
Vassals - No
Events and Huts - On
Difficulty - Monarch (Cylindrical Wrap) / Prince (Toroid)
Speed - Normal
Starting unit - All scouts
War Elephants - Banned (except for Khmer)
Barbs - Normal
Nukes - Off
Anything I've missed? Do we want to reconsider the half-ban on War Elephants and let everyone train them as Khmer can?

this should be an option for all limited diplo games, imo. as well as "stop trading with x" "make peace with x" and all the options you can do in single player.
Anyway, before I start global lurking this, I thought I'd ask. Anyone badly need a ded-lurker? I'm pretty engaged with with pb8 and not intersted in turn playing or being a full teammate, but as long as your report I can offer input, cheer-lead (my best civ skill) and play turns occasionally to prevent a pause when needed.
I think a few asked earlier in the thread, but I'm not sure if they found a solution or not?

On pauses, my thoughts on the matter are:
Misclicks
No reloads
Missing player
If turn not played by final hour of timer with no notification then:
1st and 2nd Strike -> Pause up to 24 hours for them to play
3rd Strike -> No pause
1 strike is removed a month after it was enforced, just so players don't end up getting overly punished in the late game for an unexpected busy day after long time of consistent play.
Pause Requests
Anyone can request 2 pauses per month of up to 12 hours at any point, but it is highly encouraged that they have a good reason and do not abuse it.
Pauses for holidays that would be for longer than 24 hours need to be agreed by a majority of remaining players.
--------------------------------------------------
I think its best to allow some flexibility for people who might get busy unexpectedly (as with my university finals and dance comps not miles away there might be the odd day here or there where I may not be able to play in time)

I wouldn't mind a ded-lurker to keep prodding me to update and also for some advice on what to do!
