Yes, I am. Just waiting for the rules/settings to be finalized.

I think I said my preference for an AI diplo.

If you still want a way to limit communication between players, while having the opportunity to exchange a line per turn, why dont you not send an ambassador (scout or whatever) to the player who you want to say something territory and not change the name of that unit, so the other player can read its title? Like "War vs Xxxx at t100?" Or "NAP till t200?". This can limit seriously the amount of diplomacy and also can make for an interesting situations - like assassinated ambassador, or neighbors not allowing ambassador mission to go trough territory to avoid possible agreement between nations, or people getting nervous if they see ambassadors arrive at enemy capitol, or intercepted messages (actually anyone can read a unit's name if she is in sight) etc. Just an idea smile

why could you not just leave the scout unnamed and then rename it when in sight of only the intended recipient?
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Yeah the problem there is how to enforce it as part of the deal, I don't think anyone wants an admin.
I think any complicated rules re pauses will just be to open to rules lawyering. and so forth, I think just the pb 5 system should work whereby you pause for other people but they play ASAP.
I think we should focus on getting a map setup ready, and then recruiting a roller.

In terms of a map, I think we just say that we let the roller roll say 3-5 random fractal maps (Large size, Toroidal Wrap, Prince difficulty) and they can then pick whichever map they like best.

If we say Low Sea level for more space and maybe balanced resources (I'm not sure on this) then we should be ready to go.

I'd like us all to have as little idea of what map we are facing as we are going through as I think that will be more fun.

Wasn't the map "45% water, large Lakes, x1.5 resources done using the full_of_resources script"

We can do that if you like, I've never played it so I don't know what its like.

I think it's the 18 script, which Seven authored. It's pretty dang random, mostly just more bountiful than the norm.

Is it all mirrored? I would quite like a 'natural' map where things are more unpredictable and most starts are likely not equal

Oh good grief no, it's very un-mirrored.
