I'd prefer large at least for lakes, the default settings are a bit crammed, and with 45% water, It'd be really crammed!
(default is 5-15% water).

Personally, I'd prefer more land and less water than the map you show there Qgqqqq.

But I'm one vote out of seven so its not just up to me.

As none of us would get messed up by it due to no naval civs being selected, could we just go with a rolled pangaea?

Yes, I am. Just waiting for the rules/settings to be finalized.

I think I said my preference for an AI diplo.

If you still want a way to limit communication between players, while having the opportunity to exchange a line per turn, why dont you not send an ambassador (scout or whatever) to the player who you want to say something territory and not change the name of that unit, so the other player can read its title? Like "War vs Xxxx at t100?" Or "NAP till t200?". This can limit seriously the amount of diplomacy and also can make for an interesting situations - like assassinated ambassador, or neighbors not allowing ambassador mission to go trough territory to avoid possible agreement between nations, or people getting nervous if they see ambassadors arrive at enemy capitol, or intercepted messages (actually anyone can read a unit's name if she is in sight) etc. Just an idea smile

why could you not just leave the scout unnamed and then rename it when in sight of only the intended recipient?

Of course you want to do this, but then you have to leave it like this so the other party can read the message when he logs in. And meanwhile someone else can login, move an Engineering powered knight 6 tiles and and read the message or outright kill the messenger or whatever. This whole "physical messenger" idea might lead to interesting situations and will limit the diplomacy for sure.

Large is nice for a pitboss, most scripts run small for a full set of humans. Queeg's above roll is fine, although 37-40% water might make things a bit less cramped.

Cool, then we can go with lower settings wink
30% water:

Its a very customizable script, we can do pretty much what ever.

Oh, cool, 30-35% might be ideal then.

Pangaea is boring and can be way more unbalanced, but I'll play any map anyway.

edit: 33-35% might be what we are looking for.

I would also prefer a bit more land than those 45% lakes maps have. Maybe just reduce the %water for the lakes and see what it looks like ... 25%?
