yes city walls is good. I love that he is teching HBR. horse archers will probably be a nice deterent to keep us from restarting the war in the classical era, but as long as we have a healthy amount of spears he still can't take Beowulf. and its expensive tech, and he still doesnt have writing, so he is going to start falling behind economically . Also, when we decide we want HBR we can draft him . But probably more spears will be needed than when we were facing chariots.

yes agreed. I was thinking we'd do it the turn after the galley is built, but if we aren't comfortable w/ our military we can put it off, of course. its only in 2 cities anyway and we have no way to spread it manually w/o a 2nd turn of anarachy for OR (not worth it yet). oh how I wish we were spiritual .
Are you ready to trade maps with serdoa? :P

Yes.
yay, did you offer it to him already? I'm gonna log in soon but don't want to flood him with multiple map requests.

So thought, do we put the chop into a granary, city wall, or another spear? I'm actually leaning towards another spear seeing as it will take a few turns for the spear from Gilgamesh to reach.
Also. Barracks + Settled GG in Azza's cap could mean we're going to face shock HAs... Not sure we should leave units on the iron to protect it in that case... Instead Get another settler quickly and settle the other iron? A capital whip after it pumps oout a spear maybe two?

my gut says granary. we will want to 1-pop whip when we reach level 2 as I beleive it will happen before the border expansion\peace and we don't have s econd tile to work. i'd say granary-wall-spear-spear. we can also have a spear incoming from theodyssey and will build more in the aenid as well.
my opinion might change when I log in though.
also, another thing about azza rsearching HBR: I think we conclude from this that he has no way to get Iron to the south. if he had any way at all to get Iron, I don't think he would bother with HBR. so overall thats good news.

question: how do I place a sign?
more important question:
![[Image: ur8hN.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/ur8hN.jpg)
why is the odyssey not working the corn here? the whip unhappy has subsided a bit. it doesnt have a MP in this picture, but with a MP we can grow to size 3. next turn the aenid will need the corn, why not use it for food the last turn its not sharing it? the loss of the 2 oasis commerce won't delay sailing any.
at size 3 we can work both mines and the sheep or oasis/cottage.
man, the spears are building slow than I expected. hmm. well, after the settler completesin Gilgamesh it can 3 turn a spear (not including overflow) if we switch off the food focus. we will need a lot of spears now that we can expect to see horse archers .

what is Odysseus doing here? Scouting the barb city? What is the benefit of that?
I feel dumb that we didn't send him on the direct route to start with, I didn't even think about it. he could be at the tile 1NE of azza's gold mine already. I don't think we need to move east anyway, odysseus might as well return to beowulf, we only need south scouting.

thoughts on worker micro: road to rice is complete. mine at odysseus will finish next turn, sheep pasture is still 3 turns off.
I think one of the rice roaders should start the road south of beowulf next turn. we'll need that for maneuvering if there is a war and can't do it once the peace treaty expires. when he finishes he can move to mine the hill 1 w of beowulf. the other one should road the tile the settler and diomedes are on now. for getting workers and future spears coming out of the aenid around quicker. (and it will give us the trade route in the aenid one turn quicker, we won't have to wait on sailing). when the mine in the odyssey is complete 1 worker can head to the aenid to do the cow while the other one roads towards gold. the worker that finishes the road where the settler is now can also help with the cow or the beowulf mine, whatever.
after the northern worker finishes the mine at gilgamesh.. maybe build a road there? or else start working on the two riverside spots we don't have cottages - we'll need them once we get the gold and silver hooked up, and convert to judaism.

ok, maybe you're right about spear next in beowulf. the borders expand to pick up the rice and gold the same turn the peace treaty expires, and we need at least 3 spears before we can farm the rice (maybe 4) - 1 in the city, 1 to cover the iron, and 1 to cover the workers farming the rice. once the farm is done we can leave the rice uncovered if we have to, but not while there are workers there. i'd feel more comfortable with 2 spears in the city.
any reason not to have hector as MP in the odyssey? is he moving north in case he's needed for silver city?
here are the current demos:
I'm happy that we're able to maintain #1 GNP, of course - and that will only improve once we get the silver and gold hooked up, have Intercontinental trade routes, and find the time to convert to judaism.
However, I am concerned about our low food output. It should improve a bit with the founding of the Aenid and silver city and as the whip unhappy wears off. the silver lining is that the food graph shows us somehow still ahead of azza AND Serdoa. I believe we are 9, azza is 10, serdoa is 11. so serdoa is the 33 food and azza is at 34 or 35. so in our little corner of the world we are winning at food
I haven't switched theodyssey off the oasis onto the corn, but I think if there isn't a specific reason you have it working the oasis. it seems like a no brainer to me.

oh and I did go ahead and send a map trade off to Serdoa. so if you sent it he'll get it twice <G>.
My gut says he's going to refuse the deal anyway, so it may not matter. It will be quite nice if he accepts, we can beeline to any civs his map reveals. surely he's made contact with more than just us and Azza.

hmm, maybe one of the workers on the mine at the odyssey should help finish the sheep quicker. im worried it will take too long to grow to size 3 otherwize. should be able to grow in 2 more turns if he does, then work the sheep and 2 mines at size 3 until we have enough spears to feel comfortable.
we're gonna hafta shave a turn off the spear in the odyssey (without whipping of course) for it to reach Beowulf by the time peace expires. even then we'll only have two (one to cover Iron one to defend city, I guess). another reason for one of the chariots (the far one, Odysseus) to return back to beowulf.
