Settled Cupid, and teched Animal Husbandry at end of turn...

Score!

There's also horses down south:

Our worker by Robin Hood can part road the corn next turn, then start on a horse pasture. The city will start a warrior or monastery to grow, then whip worker D on turn 33, and that worker can help out. I was thinking hunting and fishing for our next two techs. Fishing because we'll need it eventually and it lets us work the lake in Cupid. With our workers' current backlog of pastures to build, I don't think the order of fishing and hunting matters.

Demographics after ending turn:

The numbers are okay, although we're slightly behind in the city race. Someone's got cities sized 2, 2, 1 and 1. Rival best has 49k which is actually rival worst with two cities sized 4 and 1. (It could also be 3+3+2+1, but surely not, both our size 3 cities are in the top 5 list.) That leaves 60k for the last two. Both of them have size 3 cities according to the top 5 list, so that could be 3+3+2+2+2 among them. So that gives us this city situation:

Us: 3,3,1
Mackoti?: 2,2,1,1
Serdoa?: 3,2,2
Seven?: 3,2
Gaspar?: 4,1

A city sw of the sheep looks quite good. Maybe we should settle that before the wheat/copper spot (1E of the wheat)? The final puzzle in the dot map would be a 2E of the sheep.

Oh and I meant to say, with horses coming online soon, we could consider producing a few offensive war chariots if people keep overexpanding... At any rate we should build a few just for scouting and for instilling the fear of god in our neighbours.

Not sold on teching fishing yet. "Because we'll eventually need it" isn't a good enough reason to me this early on in the game, and having it allow us to work one measly 2/0/3 tile doesn't make it worth it yet. Hunting first obviously, but then writing-->math or even something like IW for gems looks stronger to me than fishing. We can always quickly pick up fishing whenever we actually need a workboat.

Can you tell from fog analysis how large the water 3W of the wine is? I can never remember how to tell (or if there is a way to tell) if the lake is saltwater just based off fog gazing.

I like your dot map, although I think the city 2E of the sheep might actually be better to settle before the wheat/copper site. We'll get the copper simply from Robin Hood's forthcoming border pop (and now have WC's for protection) and I think that location has better resources than wheat and desert copper.

Good points. Hunting-Priesthood-Writing-Math then, perhaps? Fishing for crabs if/when we're due a border pop in our fourth city (hoping for a free spread). Then oracle something with math chops if the ind nations are asleep at the wheel?

For the fog gazing, zoom in and look for waves breaking on the beach, they indicate salt water.

Doing that reveals that the water is salt.

That tech path sounds good to me, as does the exploring path with the SW warrior. Any plans to explore briefly with our eastern warrior? Also just to be clear what site are you thinking is the next to be settled?

I'm thinking the sheep/horse site is next, unless we uncover something better. And yeah, I was planning to scout with the eastern warrior, and build a garrison warrior in Cupid after the granary. Cupid can't be threatened from the south due to peaks and lakes, so we can scout a bit and still keep the city safe.

Sweet, those were my thoughts as well so sounds like we are on the same page. Might mean we need to slot in fishing earlier though as clams are first ring.

Aha. I guess that depends on which sheep/horse city we're talking about. lol
I was thinking the next city would go sw of the sheep, claiming the second horse, but settling a city 2E of the sheep (northwest of the crabs) that shares Robin Hood's horses could work too. Not sure what works best.
