[Spoilers] Old Harry's Game

I'll have three spears on the Azza border next turn, I wonder if that'll be enough?

Turn 58

One Keshik has shown up, but not quite where I expected... If he ends up on the silver next turn I think I'll have to upgrade the warrior to a spear.

Grimsby and it's overseas trade routes don't seem to have improved the gold rate at all. Breakeven is now 20% - need to get some cottages and/or specialists going...

With four chops coming in for 70 hammers next turn I think I've timed the Pyramids to finish exactly to the hammer. At least I hope I have...

Financial Pyramids is still something that I'm not so sure of (you have to convince us lurkers by winning), but I do like how you planned the micro around this lol

well you don't have to build farms everywhere and go max specialists for the pyramids to be effective. he'll benefit from the happy even if he doesnt use any specialists - and I'm sure he'll manage a few scientists in his high food spots. in the city claiming the stone, for instance - grasland incense, pigs, crabs, 1 riverside cottage and then he can work several specialists smile.
I think its worth it just because he's spiritual.

the tundra tile north of the crabs would also be a nice specialist city - with crabs for food , and only a plains spices worth working for commerce (or 1N of that if you build halifax first to net the crabs)

Yeah, sure the mids are useful, but that was also quite a lot of hammers that could have gone into some other wonder for example. I have definitely not the experience to judge this plan in any way smile

Yeah, I don't think they synergise with fin, but I'm also spiritual, which I think they will help. I think too much emphasis gets put on synergy sometimes. This is a very food-rich map, I've been struggling to use it all, so I think they'll be useful. Although they haven't won me the game yet.

I could have spent the hammers on two and a half settlers or four workers, right now I don't have an economy, so the settlers are out, but more workers would help...

Anyway here's another question - is it worth spending 3 turns of research-gold upgrading my warrior to a spear to protect a fast worker? I'll get currency (worth about 15 gpt) in about 9 turns instead of 6 if I do...

can you retreat the warrior to make him DOW before making a decision? its certainly worth upgrading if that keishek could capture your pyramids city.

how soon can you build a spear in your interior and get it out there?

I can have a spear next to the worker next turn so it would be a worker-keshik swap (unless Azza doesn't delete the worker), which isn't a good deal for Azza either. Its just that I'm low on workers as it is, so I don't know if I want to take the risk...

Exeter itself is safe.

can you just retreat the worker then? I don't really think its worth losing 3 turns on currency if the city isn't at risk, no. but why not retreat the worker until you can cover him with a spear?
