It gets worse…

CivPlayers performed a 2-pop whip in a size 7 city. Rival worst in power fell with 1000, so they were the ones that the Spanish passed this turn. So far so good.

But their score fell only with 4 points, and a drop from 27 to 25 pop would give a score change of -5. The only 2-pop changes that gives a change of 4 score at around 30 pop are:

26->28
33->35

Ie, they must have one more pop and slightly less land than I earlier thought. Which means another team must have one less pop and slightly more land, and the error in land is probably on T77 or T75, and T97 or T95 for the pop and scoring. banghead

Ok, looking closer at it, I think I assigned 1 pop too little to CivPlayers on T95, and one too much to the Spanish, and the reverse for land that turn.

The score changes for CivPlayers on T97 are pretty much fixed, since they go back to their city settled on T77, that claimed 8 tiles.

Your C&D is amazing.
I have to run.

Thanks, but right now I just want to go and cry quietly in a corner, since this will impact every turn since T95 that has involved either the Spanish or CivPlayers. And CivPlayers has had score changes every single turn since then…

its ok KJN - I think we all realize that your analysis (as anyone's would be) sometimes comes down to intuition and guesswork. No-one is expecting this to be perfect. Yeah it sucks when you find out a slight mistake 20t ago is causing you pain. But just reset the numbers and move forward - i wouldnt worry about filling in all the details back to the mistake (although i understand doing so will help your guesses later on).

The world is just getting too big to worry about perfection.

Yeah, I know.

Part of the trouble is that the historical tracking isn't that good in the current C&D sheet, ie it's not easy to roll back changes. My local APTmod sheet keeps track of the number of pop per team per turn, but the main one doesn't. And the land tracking is just a pain to work with, I'd prefer to have it work using proper delta functions:

Sum of land tiles on tX = confirmed claims (ie new cities) + border expansions (tX) + land tiles (tX-1)

That way it'd be much easier to keep track of what happens where, and any changes one makes 20 turns back can easily propagate forward to the current turn. Though I would still like the ability to put in numbers manually, for when we can confirm another team as rival best or rival worst.

These were the starting turn Demos before any score changes. After taking this picture, I whipped Seven Tribes from size 7 -> size 6 as part of our Hanging Gardens plan.

Thanks! Here are the new demos, after Apolyton did 2 4-pop whips and CFC a 3-pop whip.

The real analysis will have to wait until tonight, though. Not sure when I can manage to fix my earlier errors in score distribution, though. I think I worked out an outline for the pop development for CivPlayers, but then I need to put it together with the rest of the teams.
