Whosit Clowns Around in EitB PBEM XXVI [SPOILERS!]

Awww, flames go away? Lame.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Yeah, I just wasn't thinking.

I decided not to hold onto the save indefinitely (plus I will be out this afternoon and evening) and settled in place. Besides, it seemed pretty good.

I just noticed that there is a mine on that mana node (no big deal), and that mystery sign is a "Gold Quarry." Exactly what it sounds like. How... peculiar.

I forgot this was on Quick! I could have worked the wheat for a 10-turn worker and 13 turn tech, but that seemed utterly silly, even for me! My next big decision is whether to scout with the Warrior or keep him home. I'm leaning towards caution, personally, but I might poke out a little further towards that irrigated rice. Could make a good second city spot! Ah, Agriculture is great. Harvest festivals! Scout will meander towards that poor trapped demon skeleton.

And so the merry people found their home
Beneath the Belseraph palace's golden dome.
Together they will form a party to work and play
So that the Belseraph will grow stronger each day.

I realise now that my previous posts have been too lucid and sensible. Therefore I will unlesh Ron in order that I rectify balance.

Gottle o' geer, millenium hand and shrimp. They unleashed the mind bong, the little obscurity the last and first man. Oh woe are the fishes forthey will be transmuted to desert and the world will be a cist on the lump of Death's nose. SIP was the rght choice IMO, but you do have a few interesting choices where to settle your next few cities. 1N of the rice could be nice, if there are other resources/floodplains, and on/near the wines is a decent choice as well (even with all the desert). The elephant is not so appealing IMO, too near tundra, and eles do not give ele units in FfH or EitB. I tole 'em, I tole em, the overlord is coming and he will bring domination amongst men and trolls, abominating both brocolli and chocolate. Millenium hand and shrimp.

That's more like a sanity sandwich. :P

But now again I query thus
Should Loki come and play with us?
Other rulers may bar his way
Or declare war to make us pay.
Of what use is my King Clown?
For not training him will make me frown.

Too tired and calves too sore (back training earlier today) to be witty right now, but Loki is a helluva good scout (can't die). His main use is fatally nerfed in MP (humans won't let you near cities), but you could use him to slow someone down, simply by lurking in sight of their borders.

Also, it is a well known fact that Foul Ole Ron is always chaperoned by his far cleverer companion, Gaspode the Wonder Dog (only the Canting Crew, Sgt. Angua and Cpt. Carrot know he can talk, everybody else know dogs can't talk and refuse to believe the evidence of him talking).

So, played the first turn again. It was largely the same except that the ruins are called "Old Jubilee" and they are no longer on fire.

Yeah sorry.

Some of the changes weren't saved in the forum version, but you can rest assured that's not why we did it.
