Tech Thread - EitB XXVI

I'm making edits to the WBsave that Q posted in the lurker thread.

When I'm done, it still won't be balanced, but none of you should be in danger of being wiped out by barbarians either. There will be a few other minor changes, but that was the #1 problem that needed fixing.

Alright. Once the build is ready, Ryan and/or myself will do our best to get the turn played and sent on ^_^

I posted the new initial save in Whosit's thread.

The map still has some balance issues, but the lethal ones should be gone now.

So we're good to go (again)? And for clarity's sake, if you're able to say without spoilers, when you say some "balance issues" remain, are you talking about anything beyond the normal imbalance of a randomly generated map, or is there still something slightly more game breaking?

(I'm curious about what was there before, but I guess I'll learn that when the game ends.)

Edit: Played and sent to the tracker e-mail.

I apologize for my lack of organization at the moment ^_^

That points up another issue, one that may have been solved by Sareln with EitB, but which I don't think is fixed.

There is no turn 0 save. Instead both of the first two turns are called "Year 0001AD". This causes issues with the save game, IIRC the second "year 0001AD" save doesn't override the first one. If you do not manually delete the first save (or place it elsewhere) you could end up sending the starting save onto the next player.

If this has already been noted in thread, or fixed, then my apologies, but if not, well I've done my good deed for the day.

The balance issues that remain are of the sort to be expected if the map was randomly generated, such as resource distribution, but the land in general is pretty lush for everyone.

The changes that were made were primarily about barbarians. Lair distribution was going to be a huge problem for some players, including one player who was going to be under constant siege by lizardmen.

At this point, everyone should at least have a chance at winning.
