I like the idea of OR phase during our Golden age and Metal Casting after Civil Service+alpha unless it seems to delay Liberalism too much. We also need to build enough Universities for Oxford and we've option for 36T Golden age.

Bit longer term we should also decide what to do with the tech lead we should reach after our Golden ages and Great person spam. Should we continue peacefully and try to be 1st at Astronomy to settle the most of the islands that presumably are there (haven't really counted how many tiles are we seeing and how much isn't visible to us) or should we head for early war path. In 1st case we're better of 24T golden age and spare 2-man one to be used later. In latter case we probably want 36T golden age and head to Rifling+Military Tradition fast and go for war with Cavalries, rifles and trebs/cats.

At the moment I prefer peaceful path since I think that despite of not being Financial our long term economy should be good enough to beat the competiton in peaceful end game. Furthermore our neighbors will be the most advanced ones. It would still be possible to attack one of them, but would require a significantly more resources than attacking either Pirates or M3.

In all cases I think we need to focus a little bit more to our military. Having a single axe or chariot defending our key cities just won't be enough after Liberalism.

Scary GPT numbers posted by Plako. With all financial opponents, it's like they're all in a golden age (commerce wise) and we're not. Time should be on our side, though, as the bonus makes less of a difference later on.

So long as we win the race to liberalism and Taj Mahal I think we'll be fine.

When does the NAP with Gillette expire, again?

Some points concerning next turns. Please commment, if I've flaws in my thinking:
* At the end on T122 we get Civil Service
* We'll get Scientist (300 points) from capital next turn. I think we're better of postponing bulbing Philo to T123
* On T123 we'll initiate Golden Age and convert to Bureacracy, Caste System and Pacifism
* We get a great person (400 points, scientist/Artist/Spy) from HN the very same turn (btw. after taking the city shots I gave Corn to HN to give it a bit of extra food in the box)
* Zakalwe laid this plan for the rest of the GPs:
EOT127: scientist from OTR @ 500
EOT129: scientist/engineer from WIFOM @ 600 (roughly 50/50 chance)
EOT131: scientist from capital @ 700 (taking predence from city order)
EOT132: scientist/Artist/Spy from HN @ 800

Our tech path is probably:
Metal Casting - Paper - Education (1*bulb) - Liberalism - Machinery - PP (1*bulb) - Monotheism (We might get Pays when we could skip this) - IW - Compass - Optics (bulb Astro? No idea what is our Great Person status here)

In that playthrough, I started the GA on T122, so the numbers are a little off.

Not sure how aggressively to push GPs in a 24-turn GA. Maybe just use HN after the first four have popped? Revolt to slavery/OR when the 800 GP pops, around T134?

I only posted the timeline to give rough idea. We probably want to revise these based on newer simulations/calculations (those were done way back) and might change e.g. depending on the type of Great Persons we get. Nevertheless we should easily get Great Person out from HN on T123. Others might be delayd or in some cases hurried depending on the needs.

After thinking further I'm not sure we want to build Forges before Universities since Oxford will be very powerful to us especially if we manage to get mainly Scientists so that we can settle them. I think skipping MC after Liberalism might be for the best and just pick Monotheism before finishing Education to utilise OR while building Universities and teching Liberalism.

Interesting idea. I'll try to make an updated sandbox so we can try planning it out in more detail.

Thank you Zakalwe. I did run things true with sandbox. If we really want and don't get unlucky with Great Persons, we could get Liberalism on T130 (a bit tight at the lates it should land on T131). After WIFOM/OTR great persons we could convert to OR+slavery (~T133). Even after that we could get Great Persons out from capital (unless we rush it earlier) and HN.

We'll be way ahead other teams assuming everything goes as planned after our double length GA.

You popped 5 GPs during the GA? 400-800? Or more?

If we think building universities before forges is the way to go, then I'm all for getting liberalism and nationalism ASAP. No reason to muck about.
