t18 - meet Saladin (send a quick in-game Greeting), he has not met Charlie. De-fog the last few tiles up the centre - expect a dot-map sometime over the weekend.

New e-mail exchange with mh:
Quote:Hi,
sorry for not replying earlier.
Too much in real life, too much in the Apo Game going on. Yay TeamRB for capturing Jericho.
In character:
We have seen your scout could convince the inhabitants of that village to join you as scouts. Well done.
We obviously also spotted you taking that hut north of our territory. Of course I would have liked it myself, being that close to my borders, but you were there first.
The lay of the land clearly is forcing the routes our scouts have to take.
As you will know, we have both accumulated enough espionage points to see each others demographs.
Since we have met another civ already, we will switch our spending to them. We would appreciate if you could do likewise.
Surely your boosted scouting efforts must have found another civ already.
My own scouts have found some interesting information about this world, which I would be willing to share if closer cooperation between us is your interest.
Live long and prosper.
mh aka Charlemagne
and my reply:
Quote:mh,
I see that you met Saladin/athlete this turn, natural given his
position; I actually played the last turn before reading your e-mail
and only diverted 3/4 eps away from you, but will try to remember to
pull the last away next turn.
The map certainly does channel scouting efforts, as do the tribe of
Bears living to your North! As you see though, my Scouts are now
heading away from your lands, so we should not clash further over
Huts.
Clearly at this stage of the game information about the map is
important; what sort of cooperation did you have in mind?
Dreylin.
I'm pretty confident that I know more about the map than he does; my suspicion is that he has discovered one side of the map and that is the info he's referring to. I don't want to let on that I've had that info since the start, and see what his thoughts are regarding cooperation.
I checked the foriegn relations screen and saw that it was athlete he's met - I don't know whether he didn't check himself before sending the message. What he can't know of course is that I only met athlete last turn - I had deliberately kept all 4 eps on mh for that reason.
Time to draft something for athlete I think....

Intro letter sent to athlete4life10:
Quote:Hi there,
Sorry for not getting in touch directly sooner; it seems like I mostly
get the game in the morning in my half-hour wake-up period after
breakfast and before I head to work!
I guess you've seen my Scout lurking around your SE borders - he's
actually running away from a Lion at the moment and stumbled upon your
lands. I also see that m_h has just run into you recently as well.
I guess there's not a whole lot to say at this stage of the game, but
it's good to start saying it and get the lines of communication open!
Dreylin.

t23 - exciting news as we meet Ruff from the East!
Quote:Greetings Mehmed II,
Well met. How are you today? Have you met any others in this find world we seem to be occupying? You are the second civilization that I have met.
Regards,
Ruff
I'll compose a reply later. Dotmap is coming along; I have the central area fully mapped now and am working my way outwards.

A reply to Ruff:
Quote:Hail Ruff,
Sorry to be confusingly un-monikered in-game! I'm a bit rushed today; all my games seem to have descended on me this morning and I didn't have a lot of time for thought whilst trying to get the turns through!
I have met two other tribes, both of whom are located past my borders to the West. I take it you have come from the Northeast to reach my lands, and the other tribe is further North? Should we be neighbours, I hope that we can coexist peacefully through this early phase of expansion.
Dreylin.
My Northeastern explorations are suggesting more and more that the land will not curl around and close off the central Sea, so it looks like the map is U-shaped and that I am somewhere in the centre from West to East. Given that the turn-order runs me, athlete/Sala, m_h/Charlie and our Capitals run that way clockwise, it's not a stretch to assume that that would hold on the East. Sooooo would therefore be further North than Ruff.
Oh, and a couple of other details from the turn I forgot to mention earlier:
Ruff revolted to Slavery this turn
I am 1t from Polytheism with Hinduism still available.

Any chance of a screenshot in the near future, textmeister Dreylin?
