Well this area is usually a peaceful place. The quiet part of Darama. We're only a few hours from a town, but if this is a new threat in the area, perhaps we should take care of it, before it becomes a bigger problem. [knowledge check]
We can either investigate or run to the town and tell someone else to investigate. But my new friends are we willing to let others really willing to pass onto others a chore we might do ourselves? Let us at least peak over the hill.
Mariel perhaps you would check it out for us yourself? You can blow my whistle if you run into trouble. Thoven hands Mariel the whistle with a grin.

Thoven casts Cat's Grace on himself, readies his bow and stealths after Grouk.
Mardoc I rolled an 11 [4+7] for stealth.

rolled a 23 in ride (15 + 8), so instead of a move action for dismount I get it as a free action (literally hopping off the saddle).
My stealth is a 16 (14 + 4)
My survival check (to aid) is a 13 (7 +6)
My peception bonus is a +4

Thoven is ~15 ft behind Bradwyn (due to casting cats grace as 1 action) and gets about 15ft from the rest of the group thinks, "bad idea". And takes another action to cast Mage Armor. He is now 30ft behind Bradwyn and following him.
OOC - Cat's grace lasts 3 minutes, I've used 12 seconds so far. I think that everyone can add in their actions as well as a response to Tasunke. If you follow on his heels then I'm also 30ft behind you. If you wait a round to say something your 15ft behind him. EDIT: and just to clarify, rounds are 6 seconds and you can use an action and move or just move. If you move and act the move is only a 5ft move. Since Tas is stealthing each "move action" is halved from his normal 30ft.
The screams and shouting are coming from a couple hundred feet away.

Talking is a free action, actually, so long as it's something plausible to say in six seconds - a sentence or two, not a speech. You may talk and also take a move action and a standard, in one round.

as dismounting is typically a move action, I would assume I am at least <15 ft ahead of anyone not starting the round dismounted (unless they also wish to take a ride check to jump off their mount)
But I'm also assuming at least some party members already were dismounted, particularly the ones that first heard the noise (particularly thoven)

OOC - Ah... yeah I guess I'm only 15ft behind you then since I dismounted before you took off. Not sure if that's better or worse.

Hmm? I jumped off my horse "Free action" so every round I'm moving 30 feet (2 move actions at 15 ft/ half speed).
So its quite possible you are still 30 ft behind me assuming you are stealthing and are 2 move actions 'behind' me. Although I suppose we haven't rolled initiative yet ... isn't it just Dex bonus? If so my initiative bonus is +4

We're not using initiative at all - it would make forum play much slower. All party members get their turn simultaneously, then it's my turn, then party turn again.
That said, don't wait up for resolution on your rolls, I'm going to wait until the others have a chance to act before I resolve anything.
