[spoilers] novice & moon shoot the world

Serdoa got a great scientist last turn, this turn he completed the Hanging Gardens.

We made a few whips last turn so we lost our temporary top spot in crop yield. (Also Serdoa got the HG). Still, we're quite far behind I would think, since we're so far behind in MFG. (Not as far behind as Gaspar though, I'd say.) After all, the food must also feed our populace, where as the MFG is pure production power.

We have 39 pop, which is 18.22% of the world population. Rival best is Mackoti with 19%. Err. I guess we don't see rivals we haven't met then. Serdoa must be leading that statistic. Anyway, our population should be average then, and our crop yield is equivalent to a food surplus of 48. That's probably not outproducing any of our rivals by a significant amount. OTOH we're being outproduced by 57 hpt in MFG. So yeah, we're behind.

Let's compare with the rival average then. Since our 39pop is 18.22%, total world pop is 214. That means the rival average pop is (214-39)/4 = 43,75, and those people eat 87.5 fpt. So the rival average food surplus is 119-87.5 = 31.5. OK, so we actually outproduce the rival average by 16.5 fpt. And we're outproduced 19hpt by the rival average MFG. So that's not so bad, even taking Gaspar's skewing of the statistic into account.

Of course we've been consistently last in GNP for some time. It will change with a series of 100% academy turns now, so we'll see 10 turns from now where we stand. Landing the two TGL's would of course help immensely.
I have to run.

I take it back, our demos look atrocious this turn, 4th in everything.

City overview, for variety:

Mackoti finished The Great Wall in his Henge/Mids city.

lol at Katniss.

Maybe I'm being unfair, since I didn't read the book. But I still find it funny, anyway.

Yeah, getting a city razed that early hurts. Nothing for it but to keep expanding I'd say though.

Mackoti beat us to the Great Lighthouse by half a turn. That's a pity, since I was counting on the wonder to finance cities 10 and 11 that I founded last turn.

We have enough cash and overflow to 1-turn Literature and then Currency, and then we can settle two island cities since they will fund themselves. But then we need to grow our cities, which should finally be possible too, with Silver coming online t73, and furs and hopefully Calendar shortly thereafter.

Now watch fate torment us by having someone beat us to the Great Library by half a turn, too. Losing the Great Lighthouse was actually a bigger setback though.

What do you mean by half a turn?

Ahead of us in the turn order I suspect. Also, ouch. Not our game so far.

Also, apologies for not chiming in more fully. Wifi is down for me so can only browse and post on the forums on my phone. Will try to post something more substantive once you know I can actually download the save.

Yeah. Don't worry about the chiming in part, I will take that as license to blame you for my bad decisions. smile

To my surprise we got the Great Library, though. With other people updating this turn I felt sure we had lost it. Amusingly, someone founded Judaism, I didn't realize it was still unclaimed. Confucianism has already been founded. crazyeye

Cupid will go on to build the National Epic, our capital was just building it this turn for a few failgold. We have a galley on the clams outside Hödur, it will unload a worker+war chariot on the island northwest of it, and pick up a settler and another WC that are 1SE of Hödur now, before sailing on. Not sure where the first island city will go, we want to settle it ASAP.

After ending turn we got a buddhism spread to Orion, that's nice as it needs the border pop. We have 8 buddhist cities now, I hope we can force a great prophet out of Cupid someday for a shrine. We'll probably need a golden age first, though.

Game plan is to just claim our fifth of the world and hopefully use FIN to catch up late game. Have Mackoti and Serdoa gang up on Seven, and win by space.
I have to run.
