2v2v2v2 team pitboss anyone?

The reason why the new random seed thing doesn't affect a lot is that in pitboss so many things will be changing for each team that it is practically impossible to repeat the same moves - especially when one is not prepared for the reload.
I doubt the prevention of cheating is necessary here, but its safer to turn off anyway (if only so no such game destroying accusations occur).

The biggest issue is that it makes every turn more impactful and makes it much more difficult for a team to recover from a mistake or from a minor setback. The snowball is faster and much more cruel. It favors the longer term thinkers and punishes those who are not as specific with longterm goals. You might say that this is true in all levels and speeds of civ, but the gradient is much steeper on quick speed make the levels in play that much more pronounced. Normal speed is much more forgiving. Now normally we go bite the bullet with PBEMs but I don't think we need to do that in a team pitboss game. You say this is more like a PBEM but I'm not sure that's true.

It's a sequential pitboss though. These turns will likely be slower than a PBEM even.

FWIW, the RB demogame is a sequential turns pitboss with 5 teams and is moving very smoothly. At least, I don't think anyone is unhappy with the pace there. I guess it depends on your expectations. I like normal speed better because the granularity is finer and there are fewer rounding artifacts. (But I'm not playing, so that's not very relevant. smile)
If you know what I mean.

I would hardly hold that up as an example of a successful game. Turn pace was unbearably slow early, and then almost all the players left. In fact that game is the exact reason I voted for quick speed here.

Real Men of Genius Reloaded would like to change their vote on 'Can Strike' from yes to no. Also change our vote in 'midturn deals' from yes to no as well. Both of those options from our end assumed that gpt trades were banned, however it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Hopefully this makes things a bit easier. smile

Ok, guess that just goes to show that YMMV. I never felt that game was unbearably slow. Which, I do concede, may well be why I stayed and everybody else left. tongue

I just realized we now have 2 "no" votes for "can strike". I don't know what a "no" actually means there. Sorry if this seems pedantic, but could you guys clarify?

For the record we currently have 2 votes for "only if not currently gifting gpt to partner", to compete with the 2 "no" votes.
